I rode my mountain bike up the Red Mountain trail this morning. I found it very enjoyable! Excellent views. Steep but manageable climb. Glad I had good brakes for the descent. I had about an hour to kill before the grand kids were up to go to the adventure park. I did not complete the summit but I must have... More

There are about a half dozen trails that begin in Glenwood Springs and climb the mountains that border the town. Red Mountain is one of the most popular. We like it for the great workout (about fifteen hundred feet of vertical in a couple of miles) and the views of town and Mt. Sopris.

About a three mile walk, each way, to the cross on top of Red Mountain. Several choices, up the road, up the fairly well maintained though not well signed, trails. City owned so dogs are supposed to be on a leash. Excellent view of Glenwood from several rest stops.

My family and I hiked Red Mountain Trail June 2013. This was my first time on this trail. Half our party hiked the "hard" trail (strenuous hiking up a small trail up the mountain) and my half took the "easy" trail. The "easy" was still quite difficult, and this version of the trail is the trail that you see outlined... More

The trail is mostly a gravel road that winds around Red Mountain up past an old, long abandoned, ski area. In a few spots the trail takes off around the front of the mountain and eventually meets back up with the road. You can hike up a couple of easy miles and come out on several levels to overlooks that... More
