Stunning views of the reservoir and mountains. Lots of hiking trails and some bouldering opportunities. Ranger warned us of a lot of rattlesnakes but we didn't see any.

One of the best things about this park is that it is so close to Fort Collins, yet has a rural feel. It's also one of the worst things, since at times it can be a bit crowded. Go early or go off-season to avoid the crowds, but do go to this beautiful park that offers, forests, meadows, and a... More

The Horsetooth Open Space is located about 10-15 minutes from Ft. Collins, a perfect place for a half-day trip or drive. The scenery is gorgeous, and there are a couple of hiking trails to explore. Dogs are allowed on a leash, but be sure to take plenty of water for yourself and your pooch if you decide to take even... More

This place had the bluest water, beautiful mountain views, and blue skies. My family and I hiked some of the trails a few days ago and my legs are still sore. It was worth it! Bring a picnic lunch and some sunscreen. Fishing poles and boats are OK as well. We very much enjoyed ourselves.

If you're in decent shape it's a nice walk with very gradual elevation change, but if altitude affects you then just slow down a bit and enjoy the views. Select from either trail and you won't be disappointed -- well-maintained paths lead you either to Horsetooth Falls with a lovely pool and flowing stream, the other will lead you to... More

We hiked to Horsetooth Falls, about 2.5 miles R/T from the parking lot, over varying terrain with hills, steps, and flat paths, all well-maintained. The hike is rated "easy," but by East coast standards, given the elevation and occasional short steep stretches, I would call it a "light moderate". There were a lot of dog walkers when we were there... More

Horsetooth is a great short hike (~2 hrs R/T) that offers amazing panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, the reservoir and the City of Fort Collins. You do have to pay a daily parking pass which is somewhat of a bummer because we have several annual park passes but none of them are valid for Horsetooth (they require their own).... More
