We stopped at James Ranch to take the farm tour and afterwards, we enjoyed our dinner outside on the green grassy area. The entire occasion was a delightful experience. The salad served with our meal was a mix of fresh-from-the-garden greens and veggies (snap peas to die for) and sprinkled with fresh raspberries. My husband had their signature burger -... More

My family and I stopped by the ranch one evening during our vacation recently as it was just down the road from our rental home. It was a Friday night and they were setting up for one of their dinner and entertainment nights ($20 per person for dinner and live music) which was very nice for the setting! We were... More

This is a family owned business that has a little hamburger shack and a little store that sells beef, ice cream, cheese, and some veggies. All organic if I remember. You can do a little tour of their land. They have a self-guided tour. I learned a lot about rangeland management. Prices are expensive but I'm not sure how they... More

I only eat red meat on rare occasions, (no pun intended) and the James Ranch burgers are by far my favorite. The store is also great, and they have the best fresh eggs I have ever eaten. Fun and friendly and well worth the drive. In the summer months, they also have great produce.

Again, Durango is lucky to have such great family business. This is a family run farm....three generations of organic growing of vegetables. All is in a beautiful lower valley setting of the Animas River. It is a special place to have a bit to eat enroute to other activities. The James Family has been on a recent documentary by Robert... We spent lunch on the 4th of July at the lovely James Ranch. I had the specialty burger and the hubs a Durango Dog. It was the best burger I have had in a VERY long time. We brought the ice chest and took home some grass finished beef and cheese.

Great place for a burger. Fresh ingredients, lovely service and great location by a lake. Nice and cool on the grass in the shade.

Love the farm to table aspect here. Food was amazing. View was awesome. Wish I'd had time for the tour.

I recently stopped at the harvest grill to grab a quick burger, expecting something awesome. This location and setting are stunning. Sometimes the food is even good. The trouble is, it seems to be very hit or miss. I have had pretty good burgers there but last time, the meat was tasteless, gray in appearance and the only flavor was... More
