This is not a course for hackers. Ken Dye has designed a challenging but lovely course. Some tough undulating greens with some tricky approach shots. There are some particularly interesting short par fours with risk/reward trade offs. The condition of the course of is consistently good. The holes along the river are particularly beautiful. Dalton Ranch is a nice looking course but not a lot of fun to play. It is a links style course, not my favorite. My suggestion is to go play Hillcrest golf course in Durange or go farther down the road and for a few extra buck play one of the most beautiful golf courses in the nation, The Cliffs... more
