We spent a week in Durango and I walked the trail every day. It was such a great way to start out the day. The trail goes along the water for 9 miles. It is paved through the city and cemented in the newer sections. I was so impressed by the trail!! Clean, wide enough for both bikers and walkers,... More

What a great place to spend the afternoon. It is a well maintained trail with walkers, bike riders, families, couples, everbody was out enjoying the day. I have visited many cities but I have never seen a trail like this one. So well maintained, large enough to accomodate runners, bikers, walkers, etc. While we didn't do the entire trail, the... More

We rented a home on the river at the end of the trail by Home Depot. Walked this trail twice with daughter's big lab. Had fun getting him to the river when he got hot and letting him swim. Lots of people out biking (you can rent from several places in Durango). Husband biked the trail a few times. It... More

I would love our city to have a trail like this, and have even worked on the proposition, so far with no luck. This is a well-used multi-use trail that follows the Animas River through town and goes through just about all the local parks. It is possible for bike commuters to use this to get to work, for young... More

Nice long (and flat) river trail right through town but away from street traffic so it's safe for all ages. The only small hills are at the southern end. We rented bikes for a half day at Hassle Free bikes on 550 across from the rec center close to the trail. There are a couple eateries along the way. We... More

As long as you have the right vehicle, this is really a fun trail. Otherwise, it is a little bit scary. My kids loved how exciting it was going up and then wandering around the old Ghost town. It was one of their favorite things from vacation!

This is a nice trail along the river that also runs behind the Doubletree Hotel - yet it was easily accessible by a short walk from the General Palmer Hotel, where I was staying. Especially enjoyed the historical information provided in markers along the way, and even saw some wildlife (a marmot, I think).
