Running generally along the river, this paved trail passes a variety of town, park and open areas. There are nicely landscaped sections and the town seems to be actively upgrading the trail. So, when we were there, several short sections were being rebuilt. In some areas there is very nice landscaping and some art. Great way to see the river,... More

Starting our Durango visit at the Information Center by the river and too early to check into the hotel, we decided to walk along the trail northwards towards the town. I believe that the trail goes quite a few miles in either direction. We watched some of the rafters above the rapids and kayakers who were working the rapids. There... More

Definitely worth a bike rental to ride along the Animas River through Durango. 7 miles of paved path with rolling hills and a lot of flat stretchs so its a fairly easy ride. Go out early as a lot of folks like to use the path later in the day. Great way to access the entire town.

We ate a picnic lunch at a Durango park as we enjoyed people watching along the Animas trail and the kayaks passing by on the Animas River. We walked briefly on the short trail, unfortunately needed to cut our time short there. I think the trail is only about a mile and probably very worthwhile as it meanders though Durango..

This river trail was paved the entire way and the sights were refreshing. The Animas was high and flowed fast and the nature around it was peaceful. Listen out for bicyclists, they are abundant!

I was at the Doubletree and had the luxury of walking along the Animas one afternoon. Gorgeous river, people rafting and kayaking with friends and their dogs on board too! Parks along the way. Right by downtown--all Good!!

The River Trail runs all through Durango along the river's path. We walked just short select areas of the trail and found it both enjoyable and scenic. Would have loved to had more time to explore the whole Trail.
