This is a wonderful bike ride. We rented mountain bikes from Pedal The Peaks for $15 1/2 day and rode the whole trail. Glad we had geared bikes. This was great fun for a great price. Stop at the Animas River Cafe in the Doubletree for lunch.

the River Trail is July was picture perfect weather and scenery with benches along the way for resting and relaxing while watching the river run and the rafters pass by. Interesting things to see and do along the way.

You can ride or walk this paved trial. It loops around the through Durango. There are interesting places to sit and watch the river and wildlife and catch a picnic.

For a change of pace during our SW road trip, we rented bikes (at Pedal the Peaks, they were super nice & efficient) and rode almost to the end of the trail & back from near Albertson's. It's was lovely, safe and easy to follow the trail. We were in the area to visit Mesa Verde NP but we loved... More

enjoyed running and biking the trail right along the river. Lots of shade and nice views. Historical markers on the trail were fun to stop and read.

This is a tree-lined, 6-mile path along the Animas River. It is so awesome. There are many restaurants and attractions to stop at on your journey. For extra fun, you can rent bikes (we used Mile High Rentals which is close to the path). This was a highlight of our trip in Durango.

Fantastic, paved path to run or bike while in Durango, close to hotels. Eight miles each way, beside the river. Beautiful, and mild terrain for a run (lung buster at 6,500 feet).

We parked the car in the Albertson's lot near the river walk and walked south to Santa Rita Park. We brought a picnic lunch and sat upon the rocks near Smelter rapids watching raft boats, kayaks, and tubers float by. It was a delightful way to spend an afternoon. The walk is mostly paved and very easy to navigate.

We entered this seven-mle trail at 32nd Street behind City Market. They are making repairs here but the trail is accessible. It is lovely to stroll along the paved trail, watching the rushing Animas River and the rafters. There are many parks and picnic tables along the way. There are several access places for rafters. The trail is lit at... More

Our Family Biked this trail twice while in Durango. We loved seeing our the rafters on the River and the sites along the way. Being able to ride next to the river and the brian tracks was awesome. I suggest riding/walking along the trail early in the morning (8am) or around 5pm so that you can see the Train. Cbb... More
