I've stayed in Durango literally dozens of times and never been on this trail. I've noticed the trail winding along the riverside but never taken the time to explore it until this trip. It's a short walk/bike from the historic Main Street. Very well marked bike lanes throughout Durango lead to the Animas River Trail - ART. The trail in... More

This trail, wide and paved all its length, is one of the best I've been on. If you walk or bike its entire length, you sample a variety of feels. The northern end along the river and narrow-gauge railroad has a completely different feel than the southern section where the trail criss crosses the river several times on some excellent... More

I've walked on this trail on several different trips to Durango. This time, we started at the Doubletree; you can literally walk out the back door of the hotel and onto the trail. We went about 2 miles north, and back. The trail was in good shape, it was fun watching rafters on the river, the mountains and scenery were... More

The Animas River Walk, now even longer than before, is a reason to come to Durango. It's flat, paved, scenic, and very accessible. Walk, bike, skate, roll your stroller, run, or get an inner tube and jump in the Animas. It's just a terrific resource.

We took our two dogs on the trail everyday and it was very enjoyable. The leash free area near the base of the mountain is fantastic too.

Very relaxing way to send a few hours. We had a map and startted from downtown walked up the trail a good ways. Then got off walked acouple of blocks and took the free trolly back to downtown. Plenty of spots to set and watch the rafters. Some are very funny you can tell they don`t have a clue on what... More

The City of Durango did a great job when they put in the River Trail. It goes for miles in both directions and is perfect for a walk, run, or casual bike ride.

The river trail runs alongside the Animas with tons of Green space. It's just a few blocks from downtown. Very cool.
