Small, but nice for beginners

This was the first place my family went to ski when we relocated to Durango. I loved it! For a beginner this was the way to go!

Affordable, quaint, and low key. We hit this place on a week day and there was hardly anyone there. the snow happened to be really soft still, and it was a great place for our four year old to feel comfortable learning to ski without the crowds.

I wish there were a "magic carpet" on the tubing hill because your legs feel like jelly after walking up the tubing a hill a million times with toddlers. But for the money, and the location- this place can't be beat. This is a favorite with locals. Not a resort at all, just good ski facilities, lessons, and a great... More

This is a great little family ski area when snow conditions allow it to be open? Definitely check before going as if there is a lack of snow it will close. There is only one lift (two person) and very rarely a line. There is also occasionally night skiing. If you have kids don't miss the tube/sled hill which is... More

We went to Hesperus to ski because we saw it on the drive to our rental house and thought it might be a good easy place for us with 6 small kids to start at. We were right! This place was awesome! The kids all took snow boarding lessons ages 9, 8, 7, 6 and 4 (except the 2 yr... More

Hesperus Ski Hill, as it's known by the locals, is where the locals go to learn to ski or for a short day of reasonably priced skiing. Yes, it is just a ski hill with one lift but the lift tickets are reasonable, it's just 12 miles from the Doubletree in Durango and it even offers evening skiing under the... More

The best part about Hesperus is no lift lines, no condos, no "village", no rich jerks, no high prices, and no attitude. Sadly as of 12/1/12 there is no snow on the hill.

We went in the afternoon for tubing. We do not ski but we will definitely come back here to learn. It was not intimidating like some of the bigger ski resorts. It was very family oriented. The tubing hills were awesome and we all had a great time.
