After visiting Mesa Verde we wandered over to the Sutcliffe Vineyards on the chance that we could get a little taste, and we sure did! Off the narrow little road we found the site and the genial host/owner, John, who welcomed us into the charming, French-flavoured house and terrace. Even unannounced as we were, we had a lovely visit and... More

Alnessa, We appreciate you making the drive down our funny little canyon, and taking the time to write such a kind review. Sutcliffe Vineyards welcomes visitors most everyday, and it is a real treat when the owner is about, as this is his home. Very glad you got to meet him, and enjoy the wines. We look forward to your... More

What a treat! We were on our way to Cortez and Mesa Verdi going through McElmo Canyon and saw a sign for Sutcliffe winery (!winery/vineyard in Colorado!). Drove in and we were met outside by the owner, John. We received personal and friendly treatment; kibitzing and tasting some delicious red and white wines on the patio of John's home. Of... More

We sampled the wine and were very disappointed when we were served warm Chardoney, really warm. The bottle was sitting in the sun and when I suggested that they serve colder wine, I was told that he was busy and didn't have a chance to put the bottle back into the refrigerator. Actually, there were only two other tables (4... More

Very disturbing to hear of your, quite less than pleasant experience of our tasting room. We strive for infinitely better service than what you received during your visit, and will continue to work on customer service training with our staff. Your comments help identify several areas in need of improvement, indeed. Best Regards, Nor More

Excellent wine and a very friendly host (Don). We are going to Mesa Verde this fall and plan to visit the vinyard north of Cortez. It is unusual to find such exceptional wine from such a small vinyard.

We had a wine tasting at the Sutcliffe Vineyard in Cortez, Colorado. It was a wonderful experience as we had lunch with John Sutcliffe and tasted many wines. They were all incredible. We will go back for more next time we are able. Beautiful property, beautiful vines, amazing views and incredible wine!

As you have met John, you are surely aware that there is nothing he loves more, than to show people around our beautiful farm. You are most welcome anytime. Thanks for the glowing review, Nor List Sutcliffe Vineyards More

We had Sutcliffe wine at a Colorado Wine tasting event and were very happy to find the tasting room in Durango. We went twice in three days and staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a nice outside patio (dog friendly) where we had a delicious meat and cheese tray with a wonderful Cab. We sat and just people... More

The lady running the joint was super-accommodating, leaving her lunch behind to wet our wistles. I liked their stuff. The actual vineyard is in Cortez.

while staying at Dunton hot springs(see my review), we visted the winery for a day trip. John, the owner is a jolly chap who enjoys what he does and he should be proud: every wine we drank was a wow. We left with a case and joined the wine society. When you have a great product and you are drinking... More

My husband and I stopped in to Sutcliffe while staying in Cortez. It was kind of hard to find (make sure you don't stop at the first house you see....that is not the winery!). The tasting room itself is pretty small but we did get to taste quite a few wines. Unfortunately, I like the sweet, white wines, which they... More
