We always try to do horseback riding when available. We did the two hour private ride and it was great. There were areas where we were able to gallop which never happens on other guided tours. The location is beautiful with the pines and aspens. The horses were in great shape. The drive from Durango is only 40 minutes and... More

First and foremost, our fun and comfort was of utmost importance to the crew at Buck's Livery. We had been looking for a "ride" when we met (by chance) two of the gentlemen who guide for Buck's up the road at "Needles" store (Aaron and Shawn). We told them that we hadn't had a good experience trying to book a... More

The folks at bucks did a fantastic job. Our kids and friends had so much fun they rode a second time even longer. The horses are so gentle and fun. I highly recommend this for a fun day.

Our family of 2 adults and three kids 10-15 went in July. We were staying across the street at DMR. Everything about the ride was good, the horses/mules were well behaved, the scenery was great and the guide was friendly.

This is a very pleasant trail ride. Most of the "horses" are actually mules, but that only makes things better for most people. The wranglers are nice and the ride is beautiful. We had no issues with the people or the animals. We went on a 2 hour ride and there was one other family on the ride with us.

My husband and I were thoroughly thrilled with our 2 hr ride lead by Aaron Zilmer. We rode up to the ridge overlooking the gorgeous high country lake and the Twilight Peak/Needles then through a stunning stand of aspens. Aaron was obviously very skilled and so charming. We've been on two other rides at other stables in the area and... More

If you want to enjoy a hike on horseback this is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and the horses are fantastic. Lots of interesting facts and conversation and breathtaking mountain views. Wish I had time for another ride before I have to leave.

Arron was our guide for the one hour last ride of the day. We had four in our party, including two 14 year old boys who didn't want to really go on a trail ride. We all enjoyed the ride so much, the boys wanted to go back and do a longer trail ride the next day. Educational and fun,... More

Recently, my daughter and I went on a "special" ride guided by the charismatic Shawn. Our horses were responsive but respectful and we had the best riding experience we've had in a very long time. The scenery, of course, is spectacular, but our guide was also instrumental in making our 2 hour ride memorable. I will think of this day... More

I had witnesses harsh treatment to a mule while staying at the Durango resort. I was told that the wrangler and his animals belonged to Buck's Livery...HOWEVER...I was terribly misinformed. Since writing the first review, I have spoken with Mr Breed...he and his wife have been in the outfitting and horse business for well over 30 years...they are very caring... More
