They have an excellent beginners program for all ages, Extensive list of green runs and has some good deals if you catch them at the right time. Staff is nice and very accommodating and the people are nice. Good for skiers and snowboarders and excellent service overall. Come early because parking fills up fast but it is pretty easy to... Purgatory has always been a favorite of mine - I started skiing here some 15+ years ago while living in NJ and made annual trips here for 10 years before finally relocating to Durango full time. Purg will never be a world class resort (think Vail, Telluride, Breckenridge) but it's a pleasure to ski at a place that doesn't charge... More

Took the family up here over Valentines/MLK weekend. The snow was mediocre (I got sunburned in February because it was 65!), the terrain was ok. Put my 5 and 7 year old in ski school. They had about 5 or 6 days in and out of ski school this year, but by the end of THIS day, they were rockstars,... More

Nice area, beautiful views, not crowded, easy to get to. Good mix of runs, mostly intermediate, friendly service folks. Decent amenities, but real night life is in Durango. But it is 25 miles away, so not easy to enjoy both on same day unless you like to drive.

We spent our 2015 Christmas vacation at Durango Mountain Resort. Had a great time. The resort was nice, the slopes were fantastic, and we will go again. Hopefully soon!

I can't say enough good things about DMR! This was only the second ski trip for my boys ages 8 and 10 and the last trip was 3 years ago. The first day they took all day lessons, starting on the bunny hill. By the end of the day my 10 year old was skiing blues. My 8 year old... More

Nice, pleasant ski resort with lots of groomed blue trails and non-existent lift lines. What a great combo. With the fast lifts we were skiing all of the time. The food and beer on the mountain and at the base is pretty good and very reasonably priced. Nice to see they don't gouge their captive audience. Can't wait to go... More

DMR, formerly and soon to be again, Purgatory has all the varying terrain most skiers can ask for. A very laid back atmosphere with few, if any, lift lines and gorgeous scenery. Most Thursdays are only 49 bucks! (Normally $79) There's no metro area nearby to flood the runs and it's an easy in and out. Comfy shuttles from the... More

My family went on our first ski trip to Durango. Everyone working there was incredibly helpful and friendly. They got all of us ski newbies comfortable on the mountain and would know us by name the next day to ask how it was going. My 1 year old stayed at The Den (onsite childcare) and was excited to get there... More

Our family of 3 had a fantastic time skiing at Purgatory/Durango Mountain Resort. This was the 1st time our 7 year old son just skied with us instead of going to ski school. The 1st day, we mostly stuck to the green runs off the Twilight Lift. There were several different runs to choose from. By the end of the... More
