We visited DMR as a family of four in July 2012. We used Homeaway to book a condo in the Angelhaus building which turned out to be a great experience all around. The Durango Mountain Resort (also called Purgatory) is located about halfway between Durango and Silverton (about 30 minutes to each along Highway 550). We had very reasonable (and... More

DMR is a little smaller than most ski resorts, but it also doesn't cost. $100+ like many others. Lots of local deals if you time it right. There is some great skiing to be had, just stay on the back side or in the trees. A few good secret tree runs on the front side as well if you can... More

Great place to ski. The lines are never bad and the mountain gets a ton of fresh powder. The mountain also has a family friendly atmosphere.

My family and I took advantage of the Total Adventure Ticket during our early fall stay. With this pass, each person chooses five of the following activities: Alpine slide, Purgatory Plunge zipline, scenic chairlift, bungee trampoline, Sky Hike ropes course, Water Runners, Gyro Chair, mini golf, climbing wall, mechanical bull, bounce house, mining for gold and mountain bike lift. I... More

We rented mountain bikes and took the lift up to the trails. The trails are fun, even for a beginner. The service was good. The only thing I wish we had done differently was spent a bit more time getting the bikes fitter better. Both of our bikes were too small and it made riding a little more difficult. The... More

This is my home mountain and it can't be beat for short lines and powder snow. It is not the biggest or steepest mountain, but you can get a lot of skiing here on a good day. You can ski a lot of powder on a snow day before it gets all carved up. Please don't tell your friends.. This... More

Every thing from zip lines to mountain slides for all ages. Prices average about 15 bucks per attraction. You can by a 5 admission pass 49. Good food, shops, and beautiful scenery. If you do nothing but sit under the mountain it is worth the trip.

We stopped in the Durango Mountain//Purgatory area for two nights on our way back home from Vail because we had been there before and the kids wanted to spend some time in the area on the Alpine Slide, etc. We did not stay in any of the resort accommodations there so I can't speak to that aspect of the area.... We stayed here before and after our hut to hut mountain bike trip (via San Juan Hut Systems). The resort had plenty to do and see. There were plenty of families and groups of families. I wish that I had taken more advantage of the downhill mountain biking. The condos were clean and well stocked. The only thing that the... More

I stayed here for 7 nights - it's a great value with an easy going atmosphere - and plenty of things to do. Room was very comfortable and homey - the staff are nice - did a riding trip at Bucks livery across the road - about 1 minute from DMR - awesome experience. Food here is ok - but... More
