I live in Denver, so this is in my part of town.

This is a historic building and has a very range of art and cultural film - this is my favorite theater. Not to be missed.

its an older theater and the interior definitely shows its wear and tear. if you don't mind the older style seats and a little bit of old theater smell, you'll appreciate the mayans charm. its great for a date night. grab a drink at the upstairs bar and a popcorn before the movie starts. the management and staff are extremely... A beautifully-restored old theater with incredible murals on the wall and chandeliers. It frequently has different shows there that are fun to see. However, it does not have the more contemporary or the more famous bands. It features mostly local music from unknown bands.

Great place to see an independent film. There is good food and even alcohol. The staff is pleasant. Lines for restrooms can get long, though.

This historic theater opened in 1930, but by the mid 1980's it was very rundown and scheduled for demolition despite being declared an historic landmark. It was saved by a concerted effort of Denver residents, The Friends of the Mayan. It's not your modern multiplex with huge reclining seats, and I like that. It's interesting, charming, and worth wandering around... More

I was in Denver over the weekend and my local friend kept saying how cool this little theater in town was. We bought tickets to see The Stanford Prison Experiment (great movie btw) and I was really impressed out the overall feel of the whole theater.

Denver has a few Landmark theaters and they are all terrific.I nsipid, violent, popular movies don't play there. Go for art films, foreign films, intelligent films and occasional special events.

At first, I found this theater a trifle dingy. But I've been won over by its decor, its history, the obvious excellent taste in films of those who schedule for this theater, and the fact that you can bring cocktails or other hand-mixed drinks into the theater (I often love to get a simple soda water with lime).

Tired of an eighty acre parking lot leading to a 24 screen multi-plex theater? Try an independent movie house like the Mayan. Not only does it offer carved wood and balcony seating - you can order a drink at the bar. Suds and cinema - ahhhhh

Just saw Annie Hall here as part of their A Film For All Seasons series. The theater reminds me of the Fargo Theatre back in North Dakota, but doesn't celebrate its nostalgic nature as much as that place. So, while it is neat to see, as a movie going experience it comes off in need of a remodel. I like... More
