The landmark Mayan theater on Broadway in the Baker Historic District offers first run movies and the occasional classic. From the Eclectic Marquee out front to the looping staircases and heavy ? Velvet. Curtains, the Mayan brings you back to the 40's and Fifties era of the magic of the screen. The bar serves mixed drinks beer and wine and... More

Fun and fabulous, this theater is a treat in every way. Reasonably priced, and you can secure your tickets online ahead of time. Great indie films, too! Fun snacks, alcohol and other great features you would not expect. A cool bar/lounge. But the decor is what is the real show stopper. The Mayan decor is remarkable and truly one of... More

I try to get to the Mayan early so I can just look around at all the great murals and latticework. This beautiful historic theatre shows some of the most interesting indie films (and some blockbusters) available. Park in the back lot, street parking is a little iffy.

Old time theatre. Very retro. The seats aren't the most comfortable but the ambiance more than makes up for that. What a cool place.

The Landmark Mayan theater is funky and small. It attracts people who are interested in first rate films that may not be shown in larger venues. It has many devoted fans including myself.

I love the Mayan Theater on Broadway. The film selection is always limited, focusing on independent and foreign films. Which of course is great, getting you away from the normal movie theater crowds. The theater is styled with Mayan décor, and in the actual screening area you feel like you're in an old big city movie theater or a Broadway... More

The MAYAN is a classic old school theatre with all the charm of the way theatres used to be, paired with the modern technology of digital projection and sound! Its the best of both worlds! And with a staff that's over the top 1st rate! This is 1st class cinema! When you go, give yourself extra time to look around!... More

This is a Landmark theater, so it mostly shows art/independent movies. It's often the only place where you can see some movies, especially foreign or obscure ones. The old balcony has been converted into two small theaters, and the seating there is very good pretty much anywhere. There can be, occasionally, some sound bleed-through, but it's usually not an issue.

Denver is blessed with quite a few art movie houses that show thoughtful films outside of mainstream. Landmark's Mayan, Esquire and Chez Artiste are great. The staff are super-friendly and their popcorn is the best in town. Plus a full bar. This is a winner.

My wife and I went and saw Birdman here and I have to say that the theater is a great experience. It is very retro and makes me feel like I am a kid again. It you are looking for perfect sound, perfect hd etc...this may not be the theater that you want to go to. If you looking for... More
