Just saw Annie Hall here as part of their A Film For All Seasons series. The theater reminds me of the Fargo Theatre back in North Dakota, but doesn't celebrate its nostalgic nature as much as that place. So, while it is neat to see, as a movie going experience it comes off in need of a remodel. I like... More

My boyfriend introduced me, a Colorado transplant, to the Mayan Theatre a few weeks ago. In a phrase: it's awesome. The interior is beautiful with stadium-style seating and painted walls and ceilings with original moulding etc. Plus, they have the best popcorn in town. A note, however: Tall people are going to be cramped! I'm 5' 8" and my knees... More

This theater is GREAT visually and sits in a very eclectic part of the Denver area! The seats inside the theater are NOT "big or tall folk" friendly! AT ALL! Sometimes it's worth it to squish into a short tight seat for a couple hours if you really can't wait to see the new indie film that they are showing!... More

Great little movie theater. I was trying to be agreeable and ordered a hot dog for dinner prior to the show. The young man gave me a cold, near raw hot dog. When I returned to the food stand, he put it back in the microwave an then gave it back to me. I should have just eaten pop corn... More

This is a retro theatre that has comfortable seats and a bar area. Was a welcome change from the usual multiplex.

If you like independent and foreign films and historic theaters, the Mayan should be on your list. In addition to featuring interesting and challenging independent and foreign films, the facility, which was saved from the wrecking ball back in the '80's, is a great reminder of what movie houses used to be.

We love this theater and the art movies they show. The upstairs bar is a lovely addition to the experience, but the upstairs theater is really uncomfortable for any body type! Seats are crazy small and too close together, stairs are very steep, air is stuffy....stay with the movies showing on the main stage and you will have a great... More

This is a great Landmark Theater. Decor is aztec and interesting. Very nicely preserved. Includes a bar and limited food. Always has great independent films.

If there's another theater like this in the country, I'd be surprised. The movies Landmark Theater shows there are great, of course, but the decor is what the place is famous for. It's a straight up cross between art deco and quasi-Mayan bas-relief/columns/etc. I used to go there in the early 80's…I saw Alien there when it came out, when... More

The Mayan in a Denver Landmark, with great film selections, gourmet snacks & a bar upstairs. The area around it has become Denver's hipster center, with many music clubs, shops & restaurant.
