The Mayan is one of my favorite old cinemas. It's intimate which is perfect for viewing independent films. The owners have taken care of the historic building which brings a rich nostalgia to your experience.

Quaint and fun little theater for watching Independent movies. The wife and I have been several times over the years. You can have wine with your popcorn. Also get there early it fills up fast. We've always made it but it seems small enough yet popular enough for people to be turned away. Just a fun and unusual date place.... More

If I ever leave Denver, I'll be buying plane tickets to come back and see a movie at the Mayan. The theater is a beautiful example of the theaters in the past, and they show indie movies to boot. Everything about the Mayan I love. There's even some extra goodies at the snack bar (although I admit I'm a soda... More

I love this little theater, incredible indie gems and a full bar. The seats can be a little uncomfortable but its so pretty that it makes it worth it.

On occasion while visiting with family in Denver we go to the Mayan theater to see films. It shows better-than-average films, akin to an art house for friends of cinema.

This theater plays great movies and has a wonderful staff that works hard to serve you. They even have a bar so you can grab a drink before a movie or bring it along in to the theater. Great Place!

This is my favorite theatre in Denver, and one of my favorite anywhere. The downstairs theatre is a gem, and the Mayan shows lots of great indie and/or foreign films. The upstairs theatres do lack in leg room, but there is a bar and some seating on the second level, which makes for a unique pre- or post-film watching space... More

This is not a mego audio / megaplex theatre. It is a theatre from the past but well maintained for its age. The best part is the bar. You can get beer and wine. The theater shows mainly independent films but will have a major picture from time-to-time.

The seats are worn and wobbly and the upper theater is kind of spooky. It's hard to get around (steep stairs) especially for older folks. The screen is small. It is a cool old theater but not very comfortable.

The movies are usually ones you won't see at a giganteplex and have gotten good reviews. A bar upstairs is a nice touch (you can bring whatever you buy into the theater).
