A few months ago I visited the Still Museum for the first time with some friends. Having seen some reproductions of his work in art history classes I was never taken with them. However, this visit did make a difference in appreciating his work. Do take a guided tour to learn about the evolution of his work and don't miss... More

Go, go! This is a gem - thank you Denver! The paintings of Still are full of emotion and depth. Its fantastic to follow his story from figurative painting to the dark surfaces with the openings/gaps (fight Clyfford!) to the empty canvases with just some color added (small is beautiful for the empty mind!). Dont miss this if you are... More

I am not a big fan of abstact expressionism but the tour made the difference for me. Still was an interesting artist in that he refused to participate in the commercial end of the art world. While he was a well known artist whose works were shown and published, he refused to sell any of his work. So this museum... More

The architecture of the building from outside and inside is worth a visit regardless of the art. The art is extraordinary - different from anything else on display in the West. Do not be deterred by the few steps from the Denver Art Museum nor the second entry fee necessary - it is worth it. More

The new Clyfford Still Museum is a fantastic addition to the art scene in Denver. For architecture buffs, the building itself is a work of art,. The concrete structure has a wonderful texture and austerity that totally complements Still's works. The entire presentation is stunning and for lovers of contemporary art a special destination unique to Denver. Stiull's works are... More

It was a drop-dead gorgeous day in Downtown Denver--70 degrees, no clouds--but the Clyfford Still museum (which sits within the arts complex, next to the Denver Art Museum) happily housed this normally-outdoors girl for an afternoon. The architecture of this building is amazing, built with the sole purpose to work in tandem with showcasing Still--an abstract expressionist whose contemporaries include... More

I've wanted to see this museum since it opened in November 2011. Used my birthday weekend as reason enough to check it out. Really enjoyed the architecture and the collection - very interesting to see a museum dedicated to a single artist. I'm not a big Abstract Expressionism fan but glad I went. Only about 4% of his 2,400 piece... More

This is a unique museum, dedicated to one artist only and holding most of his entire life's work, which was revolutionary in the art world. The exhibits and interpretation are very, very well done. The paintings, especially the later, large, abstract works, are striking. If you're able to attend a lecture where they put some of this in context, all... More

If you're into abstract expressionism, this would be like Disneyland for you. For the rest of us, I like it in smaller doses, especially when black is a dominant color. Still was a prolific painter and there are dozens on display, many taking up entire walls. I like his sketches better. The talk by the museum director about one of... More
