I'd heard so much about this acclaimed artist and his insistence on showing his work in a dedicated building.Denver obliged.Lovely building but Still's work wasn't to my taste and I absolutely hated his pomposity and self-importance as witnessed in the video that preceded viewing in this museum

only one artist is the focus. small enough that easy to enjoy and browse at one's leisure. the staff was working on setting up a new exhibit and they talked to me about their process and content.

Next to the Denver Art Museum,The the Still museum admission is a little high to view just one artist: But there are some really nice displays of Still's work.

Located right next to the DAM, the Still Museum is easy to pass by after one has been dazzled by the holdings in the DAM. Don't. This museum is a treat for anyone interested in Abstract Expressionist art, and a must-see for those who like the work of Rothko or deKooning. Watch the brief film before touring. A special plus... I like modern art, but Clyfford Still really is too focused on one type of image, which I like to call the "screaming rip". Once or twice is OK, but too much is, well, too much. There are other lesser-known works but they're just historical and not really "critically acclaimed". My lasting impression, unfortunately, was when one of the security... More

I've been museums all over the world and liked this quaint space. Good for Menver! They need to do more and are quite capable!

I felt a special thrill going through the carefully designed walkways and rooms - a journey through an artist's life in spatial terms. Not your ordinary museum.

Clyfford Still is among one of the most important American painters of last century. That Denver "scored" this wonderful collection is a coup. The building is spectacular, dovetailing with the abstract style/patterns of Still's work. The collection is enormous, and curators carefully rotate it, telling the story of the artist's development over his 60 years of production. The current exhibit... More

Clyfford and the Art Museum are next to each other with a nice mini-park in between. Both are worth a visit. Clyfford's exhibits change every several months. Uncrowded so plenty of time to get used to his abstract art. Parking always available at the Art Museum's parking lot less than a block away.

Before this trip, we had not heard of this abstract expressionistic artist who dropped out of the NYC art scene well before he became famous. Huge collection on display and numerous interesting documents showing the history of the collection and the artist.
