Not much going on here as both the first and third floors were closed in preparation for their next exhibit. It took longer to wait for the elevator than it did to tour the second floor. Thank goodness we were only charged half price. On a side note, the front door was cool as it slid open with a hidden... More

Really? We laughed when we realized there were only 3 small exhibits in the whole building. The exhibits were interesting, the building nice. Some museums are too crowded, and you lose the impact of the art. But this place goes too far the other direction, giving huge spaces to isolated artworks, and you end up feeling like, is that all... This review is based solely on their program 'Mixed Tastes'. When I lived in Denver it was the highlight of my summer and any time I go back to visit I try to see if I can schedule it around one of their lectures. And yes, I realize how nerdy that sounds. The museum itself is close to downtown so... More

The rooftop bar is a great way to start the night. With funky music or DJs, it is a Denver original in the "heart" of the city.

It's a tiny place. The first floor exhibit had nice photography, the second floor was closed for an installation opening at a later time, the third floor was a mystifying waste of space, but the cafe on the third floor had a terrific soup and a lovely ambiance. We were charged only half price because of the second floor ($4... More

The day we visited the museum, an entire floor was closed, so this review only pertains to the other 3 levels. Fortunately we were charged half price because of the work being done, so not all was lost. The entry level floor had a mediocre exhibit of photography, nicely displayed, as well as a small film room that was showing... More

The museum houses a changing collection of exhibits, the latest one featuring the written word. The concepts were interesting, but I found myself more intrigued by the ideas rather than the presentation of the art itself. The exterior and interior of the building are definitely worth a look, as is the rooftop patio.

I try to hit a contemporary art museum whenever I travel. MCA did not disappoint! They had a lot of different types of media featured as well as an exhibit on language which was unique and awe inspiring. It even kept my boyfriend interested, which is a plus. I highly recommend MCA!

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver is much smaller than most other contemporary art museums, which for me makes it even more interesting. There is no permanent collection so every couple of months the entire place is re-done. The art is always a surprise, and has everything from painting and sculpture to video art and writings. Of special note... More
