Only one artist was represented in the building, limiting the experience a lot. The building itself is not very inspiring and the layout and proportions give a very cold overall impression. Last not least the staircase case and some of the walls looked grubby and dirty. Too bad.

great for me. We saw the Marilyn Minter "Pretty Dirty" exhibit in this small easy visit museum. The exhibit we saw was both fascinating and disturbing. The acrylic on steel paintings showed spectacular technique with images that were bold, provocative, magnetic and repulsive. There was even a small display of pornographic material walled off with a warning about the contents.... More

Over years and many exhibits, our take on the curatorial choices at the MCA has been more experiments in repackaging and reassembling existing objects without much substance or thoughtful meaning or dialog. So much so that we probably will not visit again, and simply have not found something worth supporting here. Building itself was designed and put up very cheaply,... More

This is a rather small contemporary art museum, and I suggest visitors check out what the current exhibit is featuring before going ahead and visiting the place. I personally loved the Marilyn Minter exhibit, but I was already familiar with her work and knew that I was going to enjoy it. A pleasant surprise was the Bubble Room, where families... More

I dropped into the MCA Denver because I had only an hour and couldn't devote myself fully to the Denver Art Museum. It was the perfect choice. I rode up on the 16th Street Free Shuttle from the Hyatt and within minutes I was immersed in an all-encompassing four-floor Marilyn Minter exhibit. The cool thing about the MCA Denver is... More

I had great fun at the MCA. Not every piece/exhibit called out to me or was something I could relate to but as I wandered through the gallery I found it engaging and had a great time working my way up to the rooftop. The bubble garden was a pleasant surprise and the rooftop garden and cafe were great places... More

Beautiful space in a happening part of Denver to explore contemporary art. MCA Denver brings fascinating exhibits to the City, including a recent original multimedia exhibit of the works of Mark Mothersbaugh. It does not have a permanent collection, so there is a constantly rotating set of curated artist installations to bring you back again and again. A café on... More

The MCA is a whimsical and interesting stop in Denver. Watching it grow to a social and cultural hub over the last decade has been fascinating. The museum rotates exhibitions, rarely displaying much permanent collection. The bright and energy-efficient building is worth the visit alone, with a rooftop cafe that looks over downtown Denver. The rooftop is a popular social... More

Stumbled upon the Museum of Contemporary Art after the 16th street mall. The museum was perfect for a hour's viewing. The exhibits were fun and interested 2 disinterested teens. The view from the roof was great. The dominoes falling video entertained us. Thought provoking art; funny gift show items.

I lived in Denver for a while before I made it here. As far as modern art museums go, there are bigger, more well known spots. But, this museum is the perfect size, there are galleries in the basement, main floor, and upper floors. You can cruise through quickly or in an hour or two. But, you can definitely see... More
