Easy to get around in this facility and plenty to see, read, and learn about the entire area before going to the mine or other spots.

As we were coming into town on Highway 67, we stopped at the new Heritage Center. Very nice building, great views, and tons of really interesting information about the history of Cripple Creek and the area. The attendant was very nice, and gave us some free old timey post cards. All the displays were very nicely done. There was interactive... More

The Heritage Center has some really neat exhibits about mining history and the wildlife in the area. Plus it's free, and the views are amazing. The staff is helpful and friendly and willing to give suggestions about what to do in the area.

This building is fairly new. They have put so much information on the history of Cripple Creek that you should plan on spending at least 45 minutes to an hour just looking over all the information. It also had a great view from inside the building.

We were looking for this attraction as our first stop in the Cripple Creek area and still almost passed it. I'm so glad we did make it in. This is a large open space filled with TONS of history and information about the area. There are three floors of displays and many many artifacts and even interactive displays that are... More

After visiting the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, we went across the street to the Heritage Center. This is a great museum explaining the history of Cripple Creek (not just the mining history) with interactive displays, wonderful views and an extremely well done film. Our two 12 year old great nieces really enjoyed the museum and we were amazed at how... More

This place was helpful. They will help you get your bearings, give you a free map, and they will explain where to go. I also like that they will give advice about nearby towns as well without just focusing on Cripple Creek. Everyone there was kind and polite, and there was plenty of paved parking outside if you need to... More

Stop here first! This is an amazing view of the area and will help you get your bearings, learn about the area and get some background that will make the rest of the town make sense on your trip. The floks who are here to help you are really fun and helpful. Watch the short film downstairs and you will... More

A great place to learn about the mining district of Cripple Creek. I would stop there first before doing anything else unless you just want to gamble. It's a self guided tour but it is very informative. I loved the model train layout of the area around the heyday of mining. Also a Great view of the Sangre de Cristo... More
