We went there at dusk. As we drove into the park, we saw so many wild horses. It was wonderful. For me, I have had luck seeing animal toward the end of the day. Sunset there is also beautiful. You can camp there. We parked and walked around the camping area for a bit. It was nice. You can have... More

I am a beach snob so ignored me. Lots of people. My kid had a blast. What I found interesting was, the visitors could be potentially attacked by horses. There is a warning for that. Don't judge, I came from different side of world so wild horses are new to me. The bathroom is big, I believed with shower. There... More

Gorgeous, pristine beach with beautiful dunes. Perfect for a walk. Less facilities. It's more of a natural habitat. We enjoyed our visit.

Nice natural beach without all the hype of a lot of beaches these days. Good parking close to beach.

The beach is always beautiful, but what I enjoyed most was the Ranger led discussions about the island, beach, ecological impacts of weather, wildlife & history of Assateague. The rangers really were a huge benefit to our appreciation & understanding of Assateague - thank you NPS!

No ice cream man, no beach tags, no advertising planes, no gazillion dollar ostentatious beach condos. Ahhh, a real beach without the spend-your-money-as-fast-as-you-can mentality of most beach towns. There is a bathroom and an unspoiled beach - what more do you need? Teen/young adult children looked around and had an epiphany; "oh, THIS is what a barrier island really is!"... More

A great place for sun, sand and relaxation. During our recent vacation my family visited Assateague Beach for some relaxation. When we were there it was not overly crowded and we had plenty of space to spread out and play. You can drive your vehicle right up to the beach to park which makes it convenient for carrying items onto... More

After visiting Ocean City Beach our family found ourselves at Assateague Beach. It seemed surreal, tranquil and much more relaxed than Ocean City. The wild ponies and beach combination fascinated all of us. The little gift shop was adequate and actually enhanced our beach experience. The children were startled by the hole in the floor restroom facility.

Very pretty beach - Lighthouse was awesome to climb and see views. Very disappointed that the "wild" ponies are not allowed to run wild like the ones in MD Assateague. They clearly are more a commodity here.

You drive up to the beach and you are literally there. The beach had great facilities that were clean and easy access. The beach was clean and the water was calm. I really enjoyed myself. It is a small beach town. I recommend you ride a bicycle to the park. You will get a better view of scenery. On your... More
