Was in Colorado for a week with a family of non-riders. We rode twice; once at Garden of the Gods (Academy Riding Studios - Colorado Springs) and once at Gateway (RMNP). The riding at GOG was one hour, RMNP was two hours. (Bad experience at RMNP) We were late arriving at GOG and were told we could not ride at... more

My husband and I did the 1-hour ride the last week of July 2009. We had a great time, and I thought it was really cool to be horseback on a trail in the Graden of the Gods. We enjoyed Walter as our tour guide. I thought he was professional and handled everything really well. He gave us some good... more

My husband suprised me with this as a birthday gift. I am afraid of horses but wanted to ride one and had never been to Garden of the Gods before. My horse was so gentle and easy going, I had no problems with her at all. I will say though if you are afraid of hieghts it is a little... more

I haven't ridden in many years and the staff was patient and knowledgeable. They all wanted us to have a good time but safety is their first concern. Joe was a great rangler, stopping several times to check that we were all okay. Sandy answered all my questions prior to the ride. Pictures? The reason they don't take pictures with... more

We spent 1/2 the time getting prepped and traveling on the horses down side streets to get to Garden of the Gods. We only went with the one hour ride (thank goodness) and saw very little. We saw more of Garden of the Gods on foot. The trail leader did not help at all with my very obstinate horse (and... more

I saw a couple reviews that were not favorable. One had to do with an over weight rider so I assume it was sour grapes because this was THE BEST EXPERIENCE. My 10 year old daughter and I spent a Saturday morning riding in the Gardens. There was a guide at the front and one in the rear and they... more

I was a little anxious about making a reservation after reading some of the reviews - but on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, being able to get a reservation was great. I was very, very pleased with the ride! The staff are helpful, polite and funny! Safety of the riders and horses is their priority - and that is great!... more

For the first time ever in my life, I was denied permission to ride at a stables due to my weight: I am a very athletic 6'-4" and 260 lbs. and have ridden at stables all across the Southwest for years, but was told it was "strict company policy" not to allow ANYONE over 250 lbs. to ride. Considering that... more

My husband and I went to Academy Riding Stables last July. There was a terrible thunderstorm, but the staff advised us to wait around a while. It would probably pass. We waited a couple of hours, and just our luck, the weather did not pass. Even though we didn't get to ride that day, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses... more

First, I think the first two reviews are way off! The only thing I can think of is that those reviewers were doing things that were dangerous around horses. Horses can be dangerous and I can see the employees of the stables being adamant that safety precautions were followed. I hope they would be! I am a Family Pastor at... more
