loved the interesting chapel with its "winged" roof line. Sad that it closed so early (I think 5pm) on weekdays, would have loved to have gone inside.

June, 1976- My provisional Boy Scout troop visited this facility, on our way to Philmont. The highlight of our visit, was to eat in the cafeteria! We laughed, when we saw the concrete bridge, inscribed with the words: "We are looking for a few good Men" I would have to wear eyeglasses throughout most of My high school years; that... More

The Academy has a beautiful setting. If you're in Colorado Springs, it's well worth a stop. The Chapel is gorgeous.

We had never been to the Academy so decided to check it out even though we're Army. The Visitor's Center isn't large but but very informative about the history of the Air Force Academy. It was a nice setting. We took pictures from the overlook stops. Wish we would have had time to go to the chapel.

We were disappointed that the cadet formation at lunch time is limited to M-W-F. (We were visiting on a Thursday.) The Visitor Center gift shop prices are high. We really enjoyed the video overview of academy life, and the historical display. The new South East Asia Memorial, by Doolittle Hall, is memorable and inspiring.

The grounds have several pull offs to take photos from a higher elevation. The gift ship is open to the public w/movie explaining the academy programs. There is a walk thru w/pictures of various AF activities and their commitment. The chapel is also open to the public and is truly a breathtaking site. You can pick up a free calendar... More

We just went to see the chapel, so I cant speak about much else. Once you get past security, the drive is really beautiful. We walked about 1/3 of a mile to the chapel from the visitors center parking lot. It was not wheelchair friendly(they warn you of this) on this paved trail because of the incline, but it was... More

Went on a tour with a young man who is in a relationship with one of our daughters, was a senior at the Academy and is now an Air Force Officer stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Great setting at the base of the Rocky Mountains Front Range just north of Colorado Springs, CO. If you have not... More

The Chapel is beautiful. Enjoyed the walk through the woods to get to it. The trail has many places to stop and learn more about the wildlife and history of the area along with information about the Waldo Canyon fire on trail signs. Lots of benches along the trail so you can sit to catch your breath and enjoy the... More

I have toured the campus and facilities at the Air Force Academy a number of times but I still get chills when I see it and the cadets. The setting is awe inspiring, sitting at the base of the Colorado Rockies. The chapel is an architectural wonder and it's surprising that a single facility can provide for the needs of... More
