This is a wonderful side trip. Our favorite thing was the chapel. Wow. Designed somewhere around 1951 if I remember correctly and finished in the early 60s, you can see the era in some of the design. It is exquisite.

Makes me proud to be an American. Totally enjoyed the movie, brought tears to my eyes. Loved the chapel and the history behind each chapel.

Very informative visitors center and a short walk from there to the chapel. The Protestant chapel is the upstairs one but downstairs are a catholic Jewish and Buddhist meditation room.

After visits to two other military academies, I expected more access to the grounds. Still, the visitor's center is fairly comprehensive and the chapel is quite remarkable.

I was amazed the Chapel has three floors with four churches. Mrs. McDonald (?) gave us a great tour. The Visitor Center offers a short video about life at the Academy,.

I was looking forward to seeing the Air Force chapel in person, but I found the entrance procedures confusing. We went to the south entrance first where several people were sitting around waiting to talk to someone. A quick check of the Web site seemed to indicate we should enter at the north gate. We drove about five more miles... More

We had a great time looking over the grounds. The main problem is that there are areas on the maps and markers that give you information on areas that you can't get to. You can't get to the areas because they are off limits to non military. I wanted to go the the "Drop Zone" and it was in an... More

While in Colorado Springs, my wife, and kids (9 and 6 years old) decided to visit the Air Force Academy. What a beautiful campus! A stop at the visitor center allowed us to walk through a small AF museum, purchase a couple souvenirs, and watch a video about the first year of being an AFA cadet. We were also given... More

If you're military or ex-military the Academies hold a special place in your heart. The Air Force Academy is a cool campus in a beautiful setting. The chapel is extraordinary. Seeing the occasional cadets around campus reminded me of their commitment and upcoming service to our country in these troubled times... There are a few static plane displays if you're... More
