Peaceful little hike

I hiked up Tunnel Drive in the early morning. It is a very easy walk. The scenery is beautiful and the long tunnel is very cool. If in Canon City this hike is worth doing.

It is a nice walk. You can see grape creek .It is also a nice bike ride .If you get to hot just take your time in the tunnel to cool off.

went to this attraction while waiting for ziplining. It is a very short walk. When we got to the top of the hill, road was closed to vehicle traffic. when you got to the top of the hill you could see all three tunnels. A nice walk.

Another perspective of the Arkansas River... we took the train ride the day before. Didn't realize at the time that the trail was above the tracks in some sections! A must do - not too hard of a walk as far as hills go. Only thing disappointing was the graffiti - sad that people would do that!

Great views. Very nice trail that is high above the Arkansas River and the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. There are several tunnels, hence the name. The tunnels appear to be hand hewn, probably by local prison inmates years ago. The trail is even handicapped accessible. There is a brief trek up a steep hill, but once you get past that,... More

Started at the Royal gorge railway car park to enjoy a walk along the Arkansas river. Then on up the tunnel drive. Spectacular views all along the way. Well worth a try if you are in Canon City

Did this trail after a recommendation from a waitress at a restaurant in town. I was planning to hike some trails in Salida, but she told me this was not to be missed. Took me 1 hr 15 min to go out and back. The views are amazing and I even caught the Royal Gorge Train passing by. Good introduction... More

Beautiful hike along the river. While the first mile found lots of fellow hikers, the second mile found us with some pleasant solitude, as most people appear to turn around at mile 1. Flat except for the first hundred yards or so, but still very enjoyable!

If you're looking for a beautiful, unique, easy hike, this is it. Except for the hike up to the tunnels, the trail is flat, wide and well maintained. It is exposed to the sun, so during the hottest months of the year, you'll definitely be hot, but other than that, no complaints at all. It's also connected to the Arkansas... More

The tunnel drive trail is a flat 2 mile one way trail. Nice views with an easy walk. I wouldn't recommend it in the summer. We did it in October and it was still pretty warm as there is no shade except for the short tunnels. There are benches and picnic tables on the trail which makes it a nice... More
