Nice walk and great views. The tunnels and cliffs of that area along with the view of the Arkansaw are wonderful. Four miles total.

This is a nice scenic hike. The trail goes through several tunnels, along the train track and above the river. You will experience rafters and if lucky some wild life. Not a difficult hike by any means but do take some water along!

Tunnel drive is an easy hike that affords a great view of the Arkansas River and surrounding mountains. The first section is steep, but the rest is fairly flat.

After driving down from Colorado Springs and then riding the Royal Gorge Route Railroad, it was a welcome experience to walk this really easy trail through the old tunnels. Wish I could have timed our walk with a passing train. We'll just have to come back again when we are in the area.

We had time between our rafting trip and train ride, so we walked 1.5 miles each way. Even on a hot day the breeze off the gorge keeps you cool. The rock walls are amazing. In addition to the tunnels there is a bridge and the trail is helpfully marked in 1/4 mile markers. I got different answers about how... More

The Tunnel Drive trail is a 2 mile out / 2 mile back route that takes you through 3 tunnels through the granite hillside and along the Arkansas River. You also have views of the Royal Gorge Train tracks. If you time it right you will get to see the train pass about 200 feet below the trail. There are... More

Short walk but very scenic. Good way to stretch out the legs from a previous day of rafting the Gorge. The city plans to bring the riverwalk all the way up to Tunnel Drive over the next few years.

Tunnel Drive is just outside Canon City. There is a steep hill at the beginning, but you can drive up to drop people off if necessary and has handicapped parking at the top of the hill. The walk through the tunnels ( 3 of them) is flat. It is amazing to walk above the Arkansas River and watch the rafters.... More
