We discovered the Skyline Drive scenic route after our rafting guide told us about it. It's a great drive, very short detour into Canon City from the Arkansas River/Royal Gorge area. I drive a large 12 passenger van, and I have no problem driving over the ridge, though I wouldn't suggest anything larger. All of our guests have also loved... More

The view was fantastic and I got great pictures, but my husband/driver dislikes heights. He only agreed to drive it because it was paved and one-way, Unfortunately, some idiot started pushing us to go faster until we could finally pull into a decent lookout space. After that, the road had drops on both sides without guardrails. All he wanted to... More

This is a narrow, one way road but the views are great when you get up on top. We looked at the Christmas lights from there last year and really enjoyed how far we could see and how many lights were visible. During the day, it's a pretty view as well. There are dinosaur tracks in one area you can... More

This is a short little drive that is well worth the time it takes. It is one way so you don't have to worry about meeting a car and getting ran off the road. I get pretty scared riding in the mountains sometimes, but to me, this really wasn't scarey at all.

Skyline Drive was a cool ride. A one lane paved road with drop-offs on both sides during part of the ride. It was a little tense but was fun. As long as you have good visibility and take it slow, you will be OK. I would not drive it in bad weather conditions.

I'd never been on this road. It's not far out of town and takes you back into town, but up along the ridgeline between the highway and the city. There were several places to pull over and enjoy the view, but mostly it's a narrow, one way road. Fun on a motorcycle, but not for those with a fear of... More

Skyline Drive in Canon City, CO is a brief, memorable ride or drive. (If you are afraid of heights, this may not be for you.) Driving west on HWY 50 after you pass the Territorial Prison/Museum keep your eyes open for an old stone archway on your right; once you pass thru the arch, it is a quick assent on... More

Although this drive is fairly short, it is on the west side of Canyon City. It is not exceptionally high, but it does provide a nice overview of Canyon City. Also an interesting site is looking down on the old maximum security prison.

Our guide from American Adventure suggested that we go view and we did. It was beautiful ride. Simply amazing view. Best thing is it doesn't cost a thing.
