Skyline Drive in Canon City, CO is a brief, memorable ride or drive. (If you are afraid of heights, this may not be for you.) Driving west on HWY 50 after you pass the Territorial Prison/Museum keep your eyes open for an old stone archway on your right; once you pass thru the arch, it is a quick assent on... More

Although this drive is fairly short, it is on the west side of Canyon City. It is not exceptionally high, but it does provide a nice overview of Canyon City. Also an interesting site is looking down on the old maximum security prison.

Our guide from American Adventure suggested that we go view and we did. It was beautiful ride. Simply amazing view. Best thing is it doesn't cost a thing.

The drive up to the top of skyline drive is a rush. It can be a bit a scary but as long as you are pretty steady driver it shouldn't be too hard. The views from the very top are worth taking the narrow road. There is also some cool historical dinosaur information and foot prints up at the top... More

I wonder what ever possessed anyone to build a road along the sharp crest of a hogback overlooking Canon city. No purpose at all, but FUN!! Views to the left, views to the right, and white knuckle places where you know the road doesn't end at a cliff edge, but it sure looks like it.It was so much fun we... More

Such a surprise to find out about this ride from the Chamber of Commerce in Canon City. It was built by the prisoners and is a 30 foot wide one-way paved road along the top ridge of the limestone mountain running into Canon City. Beautiful views and could see many of the buildings we'd seen in the old town. At... More

Beautiful drive and great views of Canon City. One way, some would find it a bit scary but I thought it was great. We did it during the day and again in the evening. A fun experience.

Have been over Skyline Drive countless times and still enjoy the views. It really isn't as narrow as you think it is, but for flatlanders it can be intimidating. Take your time, utilize the pull-offs to enjoy the views, look out for walkers and sight-seekers, and enjoy. Do NOT try to take an RV or trailer over this; the hairpin... More
