We have driven this a couple of times and still enjoy it. The views are fantastic. It think it may be closed this time of year because we wanted to take the grand kids along it before going on the Santa Express and the gate was closed.

I hike up here when I come to town and it's simply amazing! Beautiful view, not to crowded, and nice to get away from everyday stress and just relax.

Skyline drive, built by inmate labor from the Territorial Correctional Facility, runs along a ridge line with Canon City on one side and Hwy 50 on the other. Entrance is on the right off Hwy 50 after leaving the town. The single-lane road is now paved and safe enough, but not if heights bother you. Still, you get some great... More

Always a thrill to do Skyline Drive! Check out the Fossils in the wall. And it's Free! Great way to get an overall view of the valley. It's kinda scary but paved and safe. Visited November 2014

We discovered the Skyline Drive scenic route after our rafting guide told us about it. It's a great drive, very short detour into Canon City from the Arkansas River/Royal Gorge area. I drive a large 12 passenger van, and I have no problem driving over the ridge, though I wouldn't suggest anything larger. All of our guests have also loved... More

The view was fantastic and I got great pictures, but my husband/driver dislikes heights. He only agreed to drive it because it was paved and one-way, Unfortunately, some idiot started pushing us to go faster until we could finally pull into a decent lookout space. After that, the road had drops on both sides without guardrails. All he wanted to... More

This is a narrow, one way road but the views are great when you get up on top. We looked at the Christmas lights from there last year and really enjoyed how far we could see and how many lights were visible. During the day, it's a pretty view as well. There are dinosaur tracks in one area you can... More

This is a short little drive that is well worth the time it takes. It is one way so you don't have to worry about meeting a car and getting ran off the road. I get pretty scared riding in the mountains sometimes, but to me, this really wasn't scarey at all.
