Short Version : Make this drive if you're in the area, it's only scary if you think about it. It's really not THAT bad. I consider much much scarier to be the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. Long Version : I'm scared of heights, I didn't want to cross the Royal Gorge Bridge, but I did cross (four times) the... More

This gives a beautiful view of Canon City! My wife is afraid of heights so it wasn't her favorite but really is well worth the drive. It doesn't take long and it is free. More

Nice workout with little traffic. Walk in early morning or late evening to avoid heat. More

The view from this narrow road is great. One lane, one way, not for the squeamish driver or passengers. More

This free, one-way drive is at the tippy top of a considerable rise that gives you an interesting aerial view, to your Right, of the highway you were just on and the various buildings and a reservoir. Then to the Left of you suddenly becomes visible, revealing housing and other buildings and sites. It is kind of a sudden alternate-reality... More

We drove the skyline drive in late March 2012. I'm not normally afraid of heights, but I was white-knuckled as I kept saying to my husband "not so fast! not so fast!" as he crept along at 10 miles per hour. The drive is a one-way drive up a mountain, then back down. There are no guardrails on either side... More

This is a great little drive just west of Canon City on Highway 50 - it's not for large vehicles like RVs, but great for passenger cars/trucks. Be sure to stop at the first pull out and walk back down to the signs just a few yards before the pull out - there are dinosaur tracks and fossils in the... More

Take this short, dramatic little drive which will set you back zero dollars and about 5 minutes. Interesting dino tracks and great views on an extremely narrow road which drops off on both sides. Hike it if you're staying in the area for a while. More

If an automobile ride on the "edge" is appealing, by all means take this short 2-3 mile nail biter. Tell the driver you will make a second pass with another driver so that all can see the unique beauty of the drive. More
