I'm not usually too afraid of heights but I about soiled myself when my boyfriend was driving skyline drive. However, I did eat some special Colorado "candies" beforehand, which certainly didn't help my state of mind. Don't get me wrong it's absolutely beautiful, but not for he faint of heart. It's a one lane (very small) road with steep drops... More

We took a day trip to Canon City and this was a highlight. It is a one way road that takes you along the top ridge of a mountain. This area is not the same terrain as northern Colorado so we are not talking above treeline. This area is desert like with pines and lots of rock. At the top... More

Our Journey Quest guides took us to Canyon City via this route. Right at sunset. Amazing views. Road is narrow with illusion of driving off the edge.

It's a short side trip, but well worth it. Not for those with a fear of heights-the road is quite narrow and although not terribly sheer, the drop off can be intimidating. That said, the views are wonderful.

Did skyline drive a few days ago. It's a one-way drive above Canon City with great view of the city and very interesting geology (dinosaur tracks, volcanic ash, and more. Don't miss.

Skyline Drive is accessed off of Hwy 50, just west of Canon City, CO. The one-way road ascends the ridge and follows the peak for about 2 miles. The ridge is narrow, so at times the road is near the edge of its steep sides, but it is a good, paved road with room to maneuver, with pull-outs and parking... More

I was lucky enough to drive on Skyline when the leaves changed colors. Needless to say the view is incredible, really short drive which takes you to 5th of 6th street in Cañon City. I heard it is great to repeat the drive when the town is covered in snow!

Nice drive and very narrow one way, one lane road. Dinosaur tracks and great views with a cople of pull off spots to take in the sights. Best of all it's still FREE..

We had seen the road from Highway 50 and finally decided it was worth a look. You can only access the road from Highway 50 just west of Canon City, and it is only a one-way road from west to east. But there is no turning back either! The initial ascent is along the mountainside, then both sides of the... More
