We accidently ended up on Skyline Drive as a result of driving part way up it to view some dinosaur tracks. It wasn't until that point that we saw the "one-way" sign and realized there was no going back. The road gets very narrow and the shoulder eventually drops off on both sides at the same time that the incline... more

Just came back from a trip to Colorado and took the short drive on Skyline. It is a safe, paved, one-way road that starts off of Highway 50 and ends in Canon City. No 4-wheel drive is needed, and on our short trip we saw people from 8 to 80 on the drive. The scenery is breathtaking, with drop-offs on... more

I share the sentiments of the reviewer who found this drive "over the top" so to speak even though he was used to heights as a pilot and parachutist. I kept my hands around my face to give me a narrow tunnel view of the road ahead so all those probably incredible views were lost on me. Obviously I wasn't... more

On a motorcylce trip to the West, my Love and I happened upon this road. we had been to Royal Gorge and saw the signs for the Skyline and decided to take the GoldWing over the ridge. Wow! What an experience. I am an experienced motorcyclist and have driven up Pike Peak, Mt Washington and several other mountains. We have... more

We happened across the entrance of Skyline Drive on our way back from a rafting trip in the Royal Gorge. On a whim I decided to see what it was about. Well, let me tell you, this road is spectacular. Sheer drop-offs literally feet from BOTH sides of your vehicle as you travel along the top ridge of the mountain.... more

After a day of white water rafting we took this little detour back home. It is neat to be elevated over the town. One of the four of us were scared while driving. I would say it is a little worse than driving up Mount Evans. But I has no problem making the drive more

Be very afraid! One false move on this nightmare of a road and you will tumble to your death. Once you commit, there's no turning around. THERE IS NO ROOM TO TURN AROUND! The ground drops off hundreds of feet just inches from your vehicle on both sides Thirty seconds after starting up the ridge, I knew I had made... more

Skyline Drive is quite a short length of road. This road is narrow but on the spine of a hill with steep drops sometimes each side of the road, fortunately it is one-way! It is a fun road as long as you don't suffer from vertigo. Directions to the road are quite well signposted from the main highway. There are... more

Skyline Drive is a narrow winding one-way road in the hills just east on Canon City. The road itself is quite interesting- it follows the ridgeline of the hills and drops off on both sides. The views of Canon and the hills to the East are quite nice and there are several pull outs and trails for short walks. Sunset... more
