We were just randomly driving and happened upon this little lake...crystal clear water and plenty of fish...the surroundings were beautiful and there were several picnic areas and camp sites available...this would be the perfect place to kayak or canoe...I can't wait to visit again!

We have been here during all 4 seasons and have always had a good time. I've fished, hiked, skiied, sledded - you name it, around this area...and have enjoyed all of it.

Only a 3 mile off road drive up a very pretty narrow canyon. Lots of color in the fall. Looks like good fishing. Many cabins surround the lake which makes it more like a second home place for big city dwellers. Campsites are available.

We're on our annual aspen viewing trip and are in Buena Vista for the first two days. We went to Cottonwood Lake, which is only a short drive west of town and 3 miles from the main road. The 3-miles long dirt road was well graded and posed no difficulty for our family sedan. And what a beautiful area it... More

I found Cottonwood Lake by looking an aerial photo on Google maps while trying to find interesting places to visit along a route my husband and I were going to drive for a day trip. We drove on up the washboard dirt road, walked around the lake a little, then drove further on and scoped out the campgrounds. We decided... More

We have camped by this lake several times in the past couple of years. We took our canoe there and the lake is perfect for this. Not to large, not to small. The lake seems to get stocked often and have no trouble catching fish when we go there. There is free camping in national forest above lake or a... More

Crystal clear water, amazing mountain views, picnic spots... just so in love with this little lake! We like to kayak and rent SUPboards and just paddle around- the water is cold!

The drive there was as good as arriving. This would be a wonderful place to spend a few weeks in the summer and there are cabins all around.

The weather was unsettled in Buena Vista, varying between sun and very threatening clouds. We were looking for something to do where we would be close to the car if the storms came in. This was the perfect activity for a couple of hours. The drive to the lake was beautiful and easy. The last three miles was unpaved but... More
