Wilderness Aware Rafting operates on five rivers in Colorado and on the Salt River in Arizona near Phoenix and Tucson - 10 day river trips include wildwater and family whitewater, but most do not require any previous experience. In addition to world-class whitewater, we offer scenic horseback rides, downhill mountain bike rides and jeep tours. Established in 1976, we have experienced guides and an outstanding safety record. « less

Now that rafting season is here, I wanted to write and say what a great trip we had with Wilderness Aware. The staff was very helpful in helping me choose between a lot of trip options and we chose a 3 night trip on the Arkansas River, leaving from Buena Vista, Colorado. We were a group of 3 and joined 2... More

We had a good time. OUr guide, Kirk, was really good. I think we could have done the half day and been happy with that. A full day trip was a bit long but overall, a really good experience! More

Our family with teenagers went with Wilderness Aware rafting on Brown's Canyon twice. The guides go through a lot of training and just look at the rafts and life vests compared to other outfits....Wilderness Aware has the newest and best condition. The building has a large clean dressing room to change into your rented wet suit. the guides put together... More

WOW! WOW! WOW! Everything about this 4 day trip was perfect - the setting, the guides, watching my 7 yo and 10 yo grow in front of my eyes. Can't say enough about how well the staff fed us and met our needs. We even flipped one of our rafts and that was a fun, safe, great experience Thank you More

You won't find a more professional rafting outfit than Wilderness Aware. Their attention to details made our trip perfect. Our guide was well trained, entertaining, and allowed our kids to have the experience of a lifetime. Check out a video of our Browns Canyon rafting trip at http://www.cheapfamilytraveltips.com. I would recommend this company to everyone. our whitewater adventure was awesome! More

We've been rafting a few times in Colorado, Utah, Oregon, and Alaska, but this one in particular stands out. Not for the scenic river that cuts through the mountains (we knew that was going to be awesome), but for the cordial reservations staff, the helpful coordinators on-site, and most of all, for our amazing guide, Sam. He started off a... More

Went in early August with husband & two teens. Did the 1/2 day Brown's Canyon trip (class II-IV) at 1pm. Lower water levels so technical in places but manageable for all ages. River was crazy busy that day (Tuesday). Several outfitters running this section of the Arkansas River - very popular trip I guess. All the companies seem to have... More

What a PERFECT day we had on Wilderness Aware's Brown's Canyon Half Day rafting trip!! The last weekend in July - river running at ~1200 cfs, which is higher than normal for late July, but not near as high as early June. It turned out to be the perfect mix of excitement, fun, adventure and fabulous beauty on the Arkansas... More

We went on a full day trip through the "Narrows" and "Brown's Canyon". Six women from age 18 to 54, the two youngest (18 and 21) had never been rafting before. Our guide (Tom) was friendly, instructional and positive. This trip is 26 miles - we all were exhausted by the end. BUT, it was challenging and exhilerating without being... More
