Great hike with little kids, or for adjusting to altitude

We have a 4- and a 2-year-old, and were looking for a pretty easy "hike" they could walk most of, and this totally fit the bill. It wasn't crowded at all - a few other folks walking around, a few people fishing in the reservoir - and we could take our time wandering around the reservoir. Nice views as we... More

The beginning of this trail is deceiving. We started at the bottom of Snowflake Lift off of Four O'Clock Road. There are lots of bugs and tall grasses. Then, it opens up and is beautiful! There is a spot you might catch a glimpse of beavers in the water. As you continue up, you will follow a creek which is... More

A quick hike. Not the prettiest hike. Once up there the reservoir has a shallow sandbar going across the middle. You can walk across it and sit on big rocks in the middle of the reservoir. Kids loved it.

This was a beautiful hike along a creek and waterfalls. Great for kids and adults. The reservoir was lovely and our kids had fun wading in along the sandbar. I would definitely put this on your must do list if visiting Breck.

Beautiful place to visit. You can hike (very nice hike, not too bad, pretty flat hike, in shade a lot, under a mile) or drive there. We hiked, which was pleasant, there's a little stream that runs beside the trail. The lake is beautiful. Could take a picnic up there and have a lovely day. You can also fish.

Not only is this resevoir fantastic but the hike to get there along the Sawmill trail is amazing. Once at the reservoir my husband and kids waded out to the center by walking on a sand bar that crosses it. Made for some great photos!

Had a blast fishing for rainbow trout with my young kids. There's a great view and a pretty cool and trail that goes around the whole reservoir.

I love hiking and have hiked to several places in the mountainous regions like Cusco & Chincherros in Peru which are several thousand feet higher than Breckenridge, without any Altitude sickness. But unfortunately my first day I suffered a terrible bout of it and hence on my 2nd day we decided to do something without any stress. And the choice... More

We love the hike up to Sawmill Reservoir. It's very easy and quick ... perfect when you are walking with children ages 8, 6, and 2. The trail is shaded and you travel alongside the beautiful creek up to Sawmill Reservoir, which provides absolutely beautiful views! My 60+-year-old dad absolutely loved this hike as well. Great for the whole family!

Starting at the snowflake lift on Four O'clock road, this short and relatively easy hike takes you along a scenic stream to a small reservoir above town. There is a very shallow section where you can walk out to almost the center of the pond - it looks like you are walking on water. People were fishing and just enjoying... More
