Breckenridge is a genuine old west mining town, not one of those "created" towns at many ski resorts. It has character! The skiing is of course major league. Huge mountain, fast lifts, Every type of terrain is in abundance. Be ready for high altitude conditions, but that's the price you pay for great snow/ski conditions. Less melted snow means less... more

Having never skied before, I was amazed at Breck, and the oppourtunities that it offered. We started off skiing on Peak 8, and with hind sight, those beginners that are not fans off steeper slopes, I would advise that they go and learn on Peak 9. My instructor Sammi was excellent, and in the first day she had got me... more

The new Gondola to the base of Peak 8 is overused and too many people are dumped into one place. Additionally, all of the facilities at the base of Peak 8 require the use of stairs. A better approach is to go to pay lot ($15.00 per day) and a very short walk to the slopes at the base of... more

My husband and I are beginner/intermediate skiers, and we skied Breckenridge for the first time in March. We thought the skiing was excellent. The green runs on Peak 9 are really wide and easy. We ventured over to Peak 8, but found it to be very crowded. We did a blue run, Bonanza, on Peak 9, and it was very... more

I'm from the East Coast, so anything with powder is amazing, but having sampled a good number of Rocky/West Coast mountains, I can say that Breck's good to great, depending on what you're looking for. The town is great - few better ski towns (save all those t-shirt shops), good bars, restaurants, etc. From a skiing perspective, it has something... more

My wife and I go to Summit County twice per year specifically for the skiing. We tried Breckenridge a couple of years ago, but could never get off of Peak 9 due to the inclimate weather (not Breck's fault, just didn't give us much chance to explore the peaks like we wanted). What we did remember about this first trip... more

Breckenridge is a beautiful ski resort. It's located in a historic town full of interesting shops, restaurants, and even some historical museums all along main street. There is a free gondola ride from town to the base of Peak 8, which is worth taking just for the scenery, even if you're not skiing. You'll find a lodge at the top... more

The skiing at Breckenridge was great! The mountain (actually 4 mnts)is huge. It took two days to ski the whole thing. The mid mountain lodges are average, but the skiing is world class. There is plenty of skiing for every ski level. The new Imperial Express chair was cool too. I think there was 3 terrain parks. Free shuttles. They... more

Stayed at Plaza One Condo in the Village 2/17-2/21. Service was great! Ski-in, Ski-out feature was outstanding. The Village has everything you need. Great place for families, lots of things to do besides ski. Town is great-historic/beautiful. Ski School for the kids was top notch. Base lifts will get crowded, get there early or wait until late morning. Avoid eating... more
