Within walking distance from downtown Boulder Chattauqua has a whole slew of walking/hiking paths. Some short others, all day one- way. And there is also some limited rock climbing. Few of the paths are level. Some have a significant elevation gain. (Warning: lowlanders (such as us from LA) may already suffer from the altitude just being in Boulder before that... More

Sometimes the Dining Hall is wonderful; other times you wonder why you bother to come back as the food is unrecognizable from prior visits and the service slips a lot with the high turnover in staff. Sitting outside on the porch must be the reason for returning!

I love Chautauqua and all it has to offer. Wonderful lodge like dining hall with a grand veranda, hiking trails for all levels along the Flatirons, big open park area for Frisbee and reading a book on a warm afternoon, music hall to enjoy the Colorado Music Festival. These are all activities I've enjoyed at Chautauqua.

This is not a hike for the weary - it is also not a hike for those that want an intensive workout. It's a really nice moderate option. We spent about an hour here and brought our 10 month baby along in a hiking backpack so that was an additional 20 pounds on my hubby's back. I didn't have anything... More

We were in Boulder for the day and chose to come here after seeing reviews on TripAdvisor and seeing booklets at the Boulder Visitor Center. The hike we took was great, with outstanding views of the city. Afterwards, we had a meal at their restaurant, with many interesting and unique food options. I agree with all the other 4 and... More

This is a nice area for a quick hike or a longer endeavor. Many people go there for a 30-60 minute workout as the trails intersect nicely and allow you to choose a longer or shorter hike depending on your available time. Thee are many choices for trails. Last time I did Bluebell-Baird which was about a 45-50 minute loop... More

We took the Bluebird-Baird trail, and it has a good incline, giving you a good workout without too much intensity so you still enjoy the hike. You have meadows, forests, and rocky terrain with lovely views of the Flatirons and Boulder. Parking can be tricky.

The location is great. The food for lunch is good and reasonably priced. Service is available on the patio.

Chautauqua is quintessential Boulder. Go for a hike and then have brunch at the restaurant for a perfect morning. Or bring the little ones, let them run around the playground and then have brunch. Walk around and look at the quaint cabins where people used to spend the summer attending Chautauqua events, and which are still available for rental.

Chautauqua is actually many things. First, you can just drive up and take a hike. There's a ranger station near one of the parking lots as you enter. All hikes are beautiful. Second, Chautauqua is also a community of homes. As in other parts of the country, founding families built homes and would come to Boulder for the summer. They... More
