Chautauqua is a great community asset in Boulder. It has a lovely park frequented by hundreds of people. There are courses and discussion groups there. There is a dining hall where good, wholesome meals are served with great cordiality. Prices are moderate. We watched kids training some kind of martial art, some gymnasts practicing, sunbathers and strollers.

We visited this park as parents of an incoming freshman to UC Boulder. It was wonderful. The people are very friendly.

Really enjoyed walking around some and driving around. A beautiful area with good scenery of Boulder, University of Colorado and Flat Iron and Flagstaff mountains. Suspect hiking is challenging but can enjoy area by car if you prefer.

A visit to Boulder is incomplete without a stop for a hike or a picnic at Chautauqua. This lovely park is a perfect place for a hike, a run, a climb, a picnic or family play time. Wonderful short trails to and around the magnificent Flat Irons. Regardless of the time of year, be sure and take water, wear appropriate shoes, snacks (pack your trash out), be aware of the altitude and the weather which can change rather quickly. Best time to visit ranked in order: Autumn, Spring, Summer, Winter.

It's a great view from the top. A little challenged hike for the weak legs but most should be able to find their own trails and levels.

After breakfast on the patio, my husband and I enjoyed one of the easier trails as we weren't looking for a challenging walk - we found plenty of birds in the trees and by a creek, and beautiful views further up the hill. There were always a few people around, and we did not get away from the sound of... More

I love Chautauqua! It is my favorite hiking spot in Boulder. I often do the Royal Arch Trail because I enjoy the challenge of climbing up the rock "staircase". Once you've reached the Royal Arch, the views are amazing. Besides the Royal Arch, there are many trails for all levels. It is dog friendly, kid friendly, not to mention so... More

Chautauqua definitely benefits from that fact that it is nearby, free, and easy to find. These traits also mean that the area can be especially crowded during peak times as it’s an easy entryway to the Flatirons. That said, finding parking on a busy day is probably the only real change you’ll have to face as the variety of trails... More
