Visitors from around the world come to Calico each year to experience a real ghost town originally settled in the 1880s.A hive of activity for the adventurous at heart - the park hosts the Mystery Shack- a crooked house where water runs uphill, two museums, narrow-gauge train rides and gold panning.Calico was founded during California’s largest silver strike. The town thrived for 12 years, until the price of silver plunged and mining operations ceased. By 1907, residents had moved away, leaving Calico to the tumbleweeds and spirits.Amenities include group and RV camping, mountain bike trails and off-road vehicle areas, fourteen shops, three restaurants, cabins and bunkhouses. Special events are held year-round, including Civil War re-enactments in February, Spring Festival featuring Americana music, the Calico Days Festival when the town’s rich mining history is celebrated with a burro race, miner’s triathlon, music and more, and let’s not overlook the ever-popular Halloween Ghost Haunt in October. The desert park is just a few miles north of Barstow, and minutes offInterstate 15. Calico Ghost Town is a great place to get a bite to eat and do a little shopping if you’re traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

From the moment you drive up you truly feel like you're lost in time, it's great here. It's a photographers haven. Loved all the buildings and trimmings and great to see staff dressed up. We went in March so it was very quiet, we were able to park right at the entrance and walk straight in. There are various shoppes... More

We where on a road trip to Las Vegas, and stopped of at Calico Ghost Town on route for a break and was pleasantly surprised. There is a large car park and only cost $8 each for entry into "Calico" It is an original silver mining town and has been authentically restored, The stores now house crafts and art there... More

Plan on arriving early and spend the day. So many things to see and a mine to tour. Bring cash. While most of the trip is inexpensive there is a charge for the mine tour, train ride, and a few restaurants. Good times

Great little town. There is a mix of original and replica buildings. Two of the originals are the general store and the saloon. It was fun sitting in the saloon eating and thinking what all those walls had seen. There are many little cubbies and areas to check out. One of first places we checked out was the graveyard. Some... This is something I personally got to cross off my bucket list after 23 years George AFB Closed and I wasn't able to go (I was in 2nd grade at the time and we moved to Idaho) to Calico at the time, but my siblings did!. We had a great time at Calico, rode the train, did the 1000 ft... More

We went to the Steampunk Event at Calico Ghost Town on April 11, 2015. This is our 3rd Steampunk Event at Calico. The town is wonderful the hosting the event, but there was no venders as in previous years. This is why we go to these events. To see the vendors merchandise. We were very disappointed. The concert Saturday night... More

You won't be disappointed. It was fun. The guided tour is a must! All the little shops are fun too. Don't get there to late because things close early. Call to check hours. Worth he drive.

the place is nice, and the family more or less enjoyed it, what was infuriating is that they take a steep entrance fee, and then all the attractions cost more money. which really knocks the wind out of your sails.

My kids had such a blast exploring here, we stayed in the rv park so we got free entry which was a great perk. We did the Mystery Shack tour which my kids all loved and panned for gold. They also loved doing some leather stamping in the first store on the Main Street. It really exceeded my expectations and... More

We had a good time. However, were not aware that the normal entrance required climbing a lot a stairs. By the time I got to the top I was totally beat. The railing was very, very wobbly and the steps were not level. I did not get to enjoy as much as I should have. My lady friend is younger... More
