I will need to come back in winter to get the full effect of this Vail owned property. It had a similar feel to walking around Lions Head in Vail- minus the snow and uber rich folks with fluffy boots and furs. I enjoyed sales at several of the outdoor hiking clothes stores in the village. The parking lot was... More

With mountain biking and hiking trails and lots of special events, Northstar is attracting a lot of summer visitors. However, there are better views from other resorts - views for the lake rather than mountains to the east and north and if our experience is anything to go by they need to deliver more consistent service around their activities. The... More

Having skied throughout Europe and North America for 45 years. I believe this is one of the very best alongside Deer Valley( Utah), Sunshine in Canada and Cervinia in Italy. Hospitable staff, no lift queues, well designed range of runs and within reach of the main hotels. Oh and great in good weather. Enjoy Mx

I'm just home from my 16th annual visit to the North Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Why 16 years? Because there is always something different for a wine and food enthusiast to discover and savor. Just listen to part of my Saturday schedule of events: hands-on cheese making for kids; how to make the perfect risotto;... More

Had a great time...snowed the day we arrived. Not a big as some of the others...but some fun "intermediate" runs. Good times.

We recommend the hiking trails but be on the lookout for mountain bikers sharing some of the trails.

Beautiful area with amazing mountains and valleys. A quaint place with shopping, food and even a Starbucks.

5:30 Saturday Night -- Jalisco Taco's closed - Shops closed. I imagine that when building this they were imagining a Vail, Co. but it just isn't like that --- pretty deserted - had a wedding going on... just nothing really to do if you are a single adult.

Northstar is a world class ski resort as well as one difficult Tough Mudder course. The hotel, shops, restaurants are really nice and the hikes, views, etc. are great! A good place to do a Tough Mudder race in California

This is a tough sporting event for both participants and spectators at beautiful Northstar. Most everything in the village was closed but it was a happening once you took the gondola to Big Springs and saw all the obstacles participants had to perform in this test of athletic endurance. The gondola ride itself is beautiful and worth the price of... More
