Northstar is smaller and has fewer advanced runs than its nearby neighbors, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. On the other hand, it has the friendliest, most helpful staff; a great ski school; and good on-mountain amenities.

Stayed at 4083 Coyote Fork. Recently upgraded, stone floors, new cabinets, counters and sinks. Tile with new touch faucet in kitchen. Flat screen tv in living and bedroom. DVD/VHS player with music and videos there for sharing. Music with plug in for iPod/iPhone. Walk to village. End of ski season but still running with clear roads.

Northstar skiing is very friendly with some challenging (local) blacks and blues. The snow has been bad this year but Northstar maintained some good runs. Well worth a few days skiing. (We're upper intermediate standard older skiers - so some challenge, some cruising, some creature comforts - and friendly atmosphere - no pushing, no show-offs, polite, respectful to everyone -... We had a 16 inch dump on arrival, but the season has not been good and this probably reflected in the lack of queues on the slopes. Snow making machine sin evidence to keep the powder topped up. Good gondolas and lifts and great facilities for kids ski school and other tuition. The purpose built small resort is compact but... More

To be fair, it has been a bad snow season both of the years that we have taken our kids from texas to Tahoe. However, Northstar has taken lemons and turned them into lemonade. We have had great family friendly experiences both years - and on the second year, chose to come back to Northstar over any other resort for... More

This area with it's wonderfully groomed slopes, great weather and a base village with anything you might need to make for a terrific ski holiday adventure is worthy your consideration. We eastern skiers can only dream about a time we will be able to return. They've thought of everything here, even little wagons to help transport your gear from parking... More

Access to Northstar at Tahoe right from the comfort of the hotel is wonderful. Everything is close and the ease of access makes it a stress free experience. The instructors are simply amazing. Emily is the best, she will teach you to ski in a day.

Liked the outdoorsy feel of Northstar village, lots of shopping and nature trails to enjoy. Take the opportunity to visit the Ritz Carlton and enjoy the Manzanita restaurant.

Great mountain! Lots of runs weren't open when we were there but it didn't stop us from enjoying. Compact which we really liked! You didn't have to traverse all over the place. Fast lifts. Good food options. Very friendly staff on mountain.

I have skied all over northern Utah, Colorado, Montana, Washington state & Tahoe. In my opinion, there is not a more scenic ski area than Tahoe. Northstar is absolutely stunning. I stayed at the Ritz which in itself makes the whole resort better. Regarding the ski area, I am an intermediate skier. While this year has been a big bummer... More
