Best ski resort of the Vail 3 in Tahoe (Northstar, Heavenly, Kirkwood). Lot's of groomed blue trails that are long, and a few groomed blacks. Good on-mountain dining.

My family has passes to Squaw/Alpine and purchased a Northstar pass as well at the beginning of the season. We find that we are using the Northstar pass much more as it is so easy for us to bring the kids (ages 2 and 4) and enjoy ourselves as a family. We ski until the kids are happily tired and... More

This resort is really well done. Slopes are kept in great condition and staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The first day we visited (weekday) we did not pay for parking, but the second day (later in the week) they asked for $20 to park in the closer lot. We thought that was a bit over the top so drove... We just love Northstar Village and come every year. Parking is never a issue. I do have to warn you that during the Holiday they are super packed. We learned our lesson and never ski during the Holiday's. We were here Jan 4 - 7. Super friendly staff. Love all the restaurants and shops! They have a ice rink in... More

First of all, it's just a terrific idea that Northstar has organized this tour. The beauty of a full moon, the natural light emanating from it reflected in the snow, against the pine trees of the high Sierras, to me was just magical. Four wonderful guides were helpful, friendly and chatty. I would do the same excursion again without hesitation... More

I have skied at Northstar several times. Parking is good and the shuttles run frequently. The Northstar Village does have a bad design because you always have a long walk (about 10 minutes) up stairs to get to the gondola or chair lift. Other ski resorts make the hassle of walking in your ski boots with your equipment easier and... More

Loved the skiing, but way too crowded. Lift lines were long on the 1st and 2nd of January, but staff was super pleasant. The Village is a fun experience. This is one of my very favorite places to ski.

Good variety of trails and high speed lifts make for an enjoyable day on the slopes. Plenty of food and convenient bathroom locations on the mountain. Operators are friendly and greet you with niceties each run. Only disappointment is that expansive postcard views of Lake Tahoe are not possible.

Visited with my family over the Christmas holiday. It smells like fresh cookies everywhere! The snow wasn't great, and it was pretty busy, but nothing Northstar could manage. Parking is a little bit of a zoo, but the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buses ran regularly and got you around quickly. The lift lines were a little crazy,... More

I have skied all over the world so I am very familiar with all size of ski resort. While I cannot hold conditions or mother nature against a resort - I can hold them accountable for the management and communication. I was shocked to see how poorly run Northstar was considering their reputation. Also shocking was their $130 lift ticket... More
