Northstar has something for everyone in the winter. A diversity of ski/snow board terrain. Free use of the ice skating rink with inexpensive skate rentals or bring your own. Free s'mores (see their website). Lots of eateries, a movie theater and shopping. In addition, the Ritz Carlton is on the mountain with ski in and ski out services and many... More

Skiing is quite good here - have been several times, but the parking is terrible. Long walks, stairs and even using their shuttle or being dropped off you walk and walk and walk and go up stairs to get to any lift or gondola. I like to hike - but not in ski boots....... Prefer other north shore resorts.

My spouse and I just finished a winter season on the Bear Mountain Ski Patrol and decided to get away to North Tahoe. Northstar was far the best resort and conditions we found for the area. It is my spouse's new favorite for Tahoe. We will be back the new opportunity.

If you are looking for the modern ski village and mountain fit for every family member, than this is it. If you are looking for the best skiing and riding Tahoe has to offer, head over to Alpine or Squaw

I recently had a ski trip to Northstar. My original destination was diamond peak but changed mind last day and headed to Northstar and I liked it very much. I skied there on Thursday and Friday at the end of March and it was almost empty, despite the recent snow storm and fresh powder. I reserved my equipment rental and... More

We skied here one day on a trip to ski at Heavenly. The 1 hour drive from South Lake Tahoe was worth the trip. Northstar is much better laid out, has better facilities and still has some great views of the lake.

Seems like a lot of people come here for the amenities, but not for the skiing. Try one of the other area resorts if you are a real skier.

My family and I recently visited. When we scheduled our trip, we looked on the website calendar and we saw that on Tuesday nights, there was "Turtleneck Tuesdays" at the skating rink. The advertisement said that from 6 - 9 p.m., there would be skating at the rink with 70s and 80s music. My 10 year- old daughter not only... More

Loved the service, the village, the ski area, although rather limited due to poor snow conditions and warm temperatures.

Our family with 2 children stayed with another family with 2 children in one of the condos in the resort area. While not on the mountain, there was regular transportation to and from the Village that made it fairly easy to get back and forth. The village is pretty nice, some restaurants, some retail, the usual. The skating rink was... More
