For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back...

For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

The 1 bedroom condo we stayed at was nice. The bed was definitely on the small side and old. It appears that the owner almost doesn't want you to stay here comfortably. The living room and the dining area is somewhat spacious. The bathroom is ok. Now, the customer service when we first checked in was good. However, the guys... More

I grew up in Truckee during summer vacations as a kid, but I moved and lived there for most of the last twenty years. When you live in Truckee year round, you have to come to grips with that fact that it does snow - pretty much all the time. About ten months of the year are skiable unless there's... More

Had such a wonderful time! Can not imagine any negative feedback whatsoever. We had one particular ski instructor who made my daughters entire trip to America such a memorable one. His name was Andrew and he was an opera singer from Brooklyn too! Such a fun guy and made my daughter laugh all day! She came back with loads of... More

Northstar at Tahoe is a great place to go hiking. There are many trails in the area to see the beauty of Lake Tahoe and enjoy nature. Make sure you carry water and a first aid kit, as some of the trails may be remote. Also, be aware of bears in the area and be sure to be loud on... More

Went here for the food, cooking fair in Sept. We wanted to get here on Sat which was when most of the events took place but were unable. Will definitely attend this next year! Resort is beautiful and very big with lots of shops and places to eat. Would consider staying here next summer as well. Very close to several... More

Mtn. Biking is INCREDIBLE! Expensive but sooo fun Rentals add up; chair lifts are not too expensive. Nice snack bar on the mountain.

Northstar has everything right there...it's pretty cool to have ice-skating rink, bungee playground, restaurants, shops, etc. so accessible. Gets crowded and is pricey, but really enjoyed the access to everything, especially the gondola trip to the top of the mountain.

Have skied there many, many days. A well thought-out mountain with an upscale feel to it. Great village and on-snow amenities and restaurants. As a local, I have multiple options for great skiing. Northstar does a fine job of snow-making and grooming - far better than most! It is also lower and therefore catches drizzle when surrounding mountains are getting... More
