Friendly, knowledgeable volunteer docents. Well organized displays of local rail history, including a raised relief map of the Tehachapi Loop. Nice gift shop. Shady trackside platform for train spotting.

We stopped in during the Chili Cookoff and Car Show and they had a panel discussion going with retired railroad men - very interesting!

The RR museum is a nice place to visit and learn about the RR heritage of the area. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful. During the summer, First Fridays is a great time to visit Old Town since the museums and local galleries/gift shops are open 5-8pm. Many serve wine and light hor d'oeuvres. Nice and cool in the... I had never heard about this place and just wandered. It is amazing, a beautiful little town, lots of atmosphere and this place just capped it off. What a history. For those railway fans this is a must!

NIce, well-kept facility. Staff is available and eager to share information and answer questions. Exhibits are well-thought out and give an interesting picture of life in the area and the history of the railroad and its impact upon the growth of the region. Pleasant way to spend 30-45 minutes during a walking tour of Old Town

I really enjoyed our visit to this museum. The lady ( I can't remember her name, sorry) who took us round and explained the history and exhibits was wonderful .... she couldn't have been better. Tehachapi is a lovely little town this little museum story helps to enrich a visit there. Thank you to all who help to keep it... More

Nestled at 4,500 feet above sea level, and in between Bakersfield and Mojave is the town of Tehachapi, California. Hotels, motels are plentiful but reserve ahead. 2 mile long trains come through town all day and night. 3-4 locomotives in front, 2 in the middle and 2 on the end, and quite a site to see. The museum is a... More

Small, free(donations accepted) rail road museum in the restored depot. Very informative history of the railroads influence on the area and in particular the famous Tehachapi loop.
