If you love to ski but you hate crowds and attitude, go to Alpine. The runs go from fun cruisers to incredibly challenging of piste drops. The workers are friendly, the skiers relaxed and, if you want the hustle and bustle, you can catch the shuttle to Squaw and use your ticket there!

Great hike and we took two wee ones along (4 and 6) and they were able to do it pretty well. They asked to be carried a couple of times. Lovely place.

Grew up skiing here. I was slightly disappointed when they merged with Squaw Valley, but Alpine has maintained the family and local atmosphere. There is challenging terrain and lots of variety.

My husband and I (beginners) took the 1 hour guided horseback scenic tour through the forest. Our tour guide was very friendly and we had a wonderful time, highly recommended!

I was the leader of a group of 14 people in the Sierra Nevada area doing hiking, kayaking, service projects, etc. I scheduled a two hour horseback ride through the Lake Tahoe National Forest with Alpine Meadows Stables and I wasn't disappointed. Our group had many inexperienced riders who were nervous and the staff was great with them. The horses... More

My 15 year old son and I went on a 2 hour ride. The entire ride was through the woods on rocky trails. No vista's. My son was on a lame horse, that limped the whole ride. I was concerned for his safety. I wouldn't do this ride again. Boring and stressful due to the horses tripping on all the... More

Alpine Meadows is part of Squaw Valley, but it has a much different vibe. Alpine is smaller but that often means short lift lines and fewer people on the runs. I snowboard and Alpine has a lot of great terrain for snowboarders. There are also a lot of areas that you can hike to--make a friend who knows their way... More

Good alternative and complement to Squaw Valley ski trails. Some places to eat to different budgets. Ski rentals and a great terrace for seating and fooling around.

4-2014-- I think that I first skied AM in the 1970's. They installed some High Speed Quad chairs since then. :) Lots of varied terrain that was easily accessible. We skied close to the end of a really bad, drought season. There was good coverage on all the runs but the snow slushed up pretty bad by noon. It was... More

Our son works at Alpine! Love that place! Super family oriented and low-key. It's the local fav! Kinda says a lot! Lift operators make it really fun. Had a great conversation with liftie, Devin from Ireland. He suggested a trip plan for Galway, his hometown! Awesome! Amanda in Special Tickets has helped us with passes, always with a smile!
