We actually ended up connecting into Alpine Meadows via Paige meadows and the Tahoe Rim Trail. The trails are easily identified and for the most point are easy to moderate. We ended up hiking around 16 miles in 6-7 hours. Make sure you prepare yourself with food, water and self defense item as it become quite desolate out there.

Five lakes hiking trail is a must do. Following the trail is accurate when comparing to hiking trail guides . This trail is moderate yet steep. As you summit stay to the left following trail to first of two lakes we attempted. Continue to the right once you enjoy the views of the first lake. You will come upon a... More

Me, hubbie and my 2 sons went for a 1 hr. ride while we were in Squaw Valley for vacation. It was great. We had time before the ride to interact with the horses. Our horses were gentle, calm, and well behaved (as an anxious mom, that was my main concern). Our guide Matt was knowledgeable, friendly, and good with... More

My husband and I went horseback riding. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The horses were gentle and easy to ride. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to ride.

If you love to ski but you hate crowds and attitude, go to Alpine. The runs go from fun cruisers to incredibly challenging of piste drops. The workers are friendly, the skiers relaxed and, if you want the hustle and bustle, you can catch the shuttle to Squaw and use your ticket there!

Great hike and we took two wee ones along (4 and 6) and they were able to do it pretty well. They asked to be carried a couple of times. Lovely place.

Grew up skiing here. I was slightly disappointed when they merged with Squaw Valley, but Alpine has maintained the family and local atmosphere. There is challenging terrain and lots of variety.

My husband and I (beginners) took the 1 hour guided horseback scenic tour through the forest. Our tour guide was very friendly and we had a wonderful time, highly recommended!

I was the leader of a group of 14 people in the Sierra Nevada area doing hiking, kayaking, service projects, etc. I scheduled a two hour horseback ride through the Lake Tahoe National Forest with Alpine Meadows Stables and I wasn't disappointed. Our group had many inexperienced riders who were nervous and the staff was great with them. The horses... More

Alpine Meadows is part of Squaw Valley, but it has a much different vibe. Alpine is smaller but that often means short lift lines and fewer people on the runs. I snowboard and Alpine has a lot of great terrain for snowboarders. There are also a lot of areas that you can hike to--make a friend who knows their way... More
