Views were great - but there are lots of people, even in the off season. The bathrooms were fairly primitive but nice to have. It was about a 30minute drive up from South Tahoe.

Easily the most scenic spot in our quick visit around the lake. This is the number one rated item on Trip Advisor (as of the date we went) and I can most certainly see why.

Billed as "Tahoe City", but it is 22 miles south and about a 40 minute drive, but well worth it. On a sunny day, it is just beautiful.

Inspiration point has many information signs with a great deal of historical information about the area. Great for a different view of Emerald Bay.

Must see spot at Lake Tahoe! As a "flatlander" I loved the view but I was terrified of the heights! We did a family picture and it's been my screen saver every since.

Not quite enough parking but I guess that keeps any overcrowding at any given time to a minimum. The view is spectacular and overlooks Emerald Bay and the island with a castle. There is some interesting Indian facts and information on the scenery but the view is the draw.

Our hotel guy in Tahoe at the Alder Inn told us about this spot. You cant usually get to it during the winter months because of the road but..the road happened to be open this week. Amazing spot to see. We went for sunset one day and went back for sunrise the next morning. both spectacular.

Went for a drive since there was no skiing and so happy we did. Beautiful view of the lake and signs at the parking area that tells historical information. Glad we took the drive!

We went on a day that it was really foggy and snowy, so we didn't really see much - went back the next day and WOW - so beautiful. Glad we took the time to drive back up!

For an even better view, go across the street to the back of the Bay View Campground. You'll find the desolation trailhead for the Bay View Trail. Fill out your free wilderness permit and take the trail to the right. In 15 minutes you'll have one of the best views of Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe that you can find.... More
