Topical museum devoted to everything trains and their influence and impact on the West. Lots of memorabilia, plus railway cars and engines to viewed and entered. Somewhat isolated from any other attraction, it is still worth the time to understand how the West was tamed and the railroads role in that era.

If you are into early 20th century rail, this is a good stop for you. They have a small display area in the main building, with a nice rail layout that illustrates the use of wind and solar power to provide electricity. Since the museum sits right next to one one of the biggest wind farms in California, with 573... More

This is a museum dedicated to electric trains/trolleys/street cars. We took a trip on one of their Key System train - called the "Fruit Salad" due to its colours - yellow and green. Enjoyed chatting with the volunteers that run both the trains and the facilities. One of the rail cars looked like a boat - called a "boat car"... More

Last weekend and this weekend the WRM has a great Pumpkin Patch with hayrides, a hay fortress, petting zoo, pony rides and a pumpkin launcher. There is live music, hotdogs and hamburgers. Soroptimist Rio Vista had a wide variety of delicious homemade baked goods. Took the train to Gum Grove and had a fun day. Great for all ages.

Ok, We love Halloween and we love trains. The WRM has the BEST pumpkin train ride! Ride the train to Gum Grove, where you will experience a Halloween wonderland. Music, petting zoo, pony rides, jumpy houses, tractor rides, hay fort,"punkin' chunkin'", games, hot dogs & hamburgers and of course, pumpkins. A delightful day for the whole family. Shady areas available.... More

If you like trains, this is a must see place. Specializing in commuter light rail from the 19th & 20th century, there is enough here to keep you busy for several hours. For the price of admission, you get ride on whatever antique rolling stock they are exercising that day out on their several mile section of track. The track... More

Great experience for adults and children to see different trains and cars. Short train ride out to the valley and see the spring flowers. Fun time, picnic area, etc.

A focus on commuter trains and streetcars makes this a rather different and interesting place to visit. Good access to some amazing rolling stock, it is as if they had just come out of service 80 out 90 years ago. You can really feel what it would have been like you habe been a passenger. There's even a Blackpool Corporation... More

This museum is a bit out of the way but if anyone in your family is a train fan, you need to go. The museum building was beautiful but there really isn't anything to see inside (their Traction Lab exhibit wasn't working and no one seemed to know what to do to fix it). There is a very nice gift... More
