The views of the baseball complex and hockey arena are nice. there are boats and offices and Nenas Mexican Restaurant. Office workers will be seen jogging at lunch, nice place to take visitors on a warm pleasant day. Except for the occasional homicide now and then in the evening I would have rated it excellent.

Very good during the Asparagus Festival of Stockton, ( April) Only 1 hotel and minimal restaurants. Not the safest area to be at night.

We were downtown and had 30 minutes to spend with the kids, so we decided to stop at the park located on the Joan Darrah promenade. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised for a downtown area, but it was a bit scary. The bathrooms were completely trashed and largely non-functional. It looked more like a hangout for homeless and... More

Be around for a special event and it will be fine. The street people who hang around will be away from the area during events that generate crowds. Generally not well maintained.

We stayed one night in Stockton en route to Yosemite. Out of curiosity went downtown and found the marina area. What a nice place to walk and spend some time on a warm summer evening.

Nice place to walk. The restaurants are opened during the day. I would not walk around in the dark. The place is jumping during events like the Asparagus Festival, the 4th of July, etc. Much safer when there are a lot of people around. It is located across from the Children's Museum. It is a great place for the kids.

You can take your boat down for a cruise or to eat at one of the waterfront restaurants. They have nice boat docks with a secure gated entry. Has its charm and provides a different view of Stockton.
