I just moved to San Francisco a few months ago and I brought my family from Buffalo, NY to Sonoma for the wine country experience. We had a fantastic time at Robert Hunter. It was our first experience in California wine country and it was exceptional and unique. We started with a tour of the house and grounds, which are... More

Being in wine country, we obviously visited many wineries. This by far was our group's favourite. The tour was as unique as the beautiful property. Great history about the family. Being invited into the living room for our tasting was amazing. At first we thought it may be awkward, but our hosts were so welcoming, animated and very knowledgeable. If... More

I chose Robert Hunter winery because I am more interested in the scenery than the actual wine tasting and the garden there is a beautiful place to spend an hour sipping excellent wines. There is a $25 tasting fee which does not apply to any wine purchased, but the pourings are generous and the experience is more than worth it.... More

Our tour guide, Kurt, definitely has a passion for the Hunter family and winery. They keep their tour participants to a small group because this winery is actually a private home. We were led around the beautiful gardens (some flowers and trees were over 200 years old). The gardens are in pristine condition and to hear the history of how... More

We were so lucky to have found this Gem. My group was looking for top end Pinot Noir and found it at Robert Hunter Winery. The tour of the garden was a great way to warm up to Kurt and the history of this place. We loved everything about this 1.5 hour experience. Can't wait to drink the wine we... More

This tour was recommended to us by our tour guide. Reservations are required, but do not be late because the no-nonsense host will make you painfully aware of it! Although I found our host to be a little caustic and abrupt at times, he seemed to settle in once he had a few tastings himself. The experience is interesting as... More

Beautiful grounds, interesting history, wine and champagne tasting under an incredible vine covered arbor. Kurt did the tasting, but is also a wine maker and not just a salesman. Classy, no pressure to buy, relaxed atmosphere. Besides some pesky mosquitos (bring a can of bug spray if you are prone to bites), this experience was simply perfect. I'd visit again... More

The vines over the arbor alone are worth the visit. We loved the old green plantings that make a garden of textures instead of colors. The pinots and Chardonnay are delicious.

One of the vineyards we visited during our honeymoon in 2012 - stunning gardens, great views, casual atmosphere and some of the best Pinot and Brut de Noir in the valley. This isn't just a tasting - it's an experience and event and we highly recommend calling ahead to schedule a tasting. Excellent!

By appointment only. $25 advance to hold a spot. A very intimate tour of the Robert Hunter property on Arnold Drive, a few minutes from Sonoma on the way to Glen Ellen. I say "property" because I never saw the winery or winemaking operation itself. Instead, we met and walked through the garden, behind the Hunter home, on a bluff... More
