Situated at the historic gateway to the Carneros region, Ram's Gate was created with the belief that in a world obsessed with making things faster, where speed is valued above all else, a delicious wine is the way to press pause - to savor and enjoy what we love most. Amidst sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards, we offer a portfolio of estate and single vineyard wines made from the grapes of the region's marquee vineyards. Beaux1980 wrote that only Ram's Gate charged for a tasting. I'd like a list from him of those, since they are now quite rare in California wineries. In that area, only Jacizzi and Cline (same owners) are free. The standard for high end wineries is now $25.00, but very few are free; and none in nearby Napa Valley that I... More

This is the first winery on the route to Sonoma. They know that and charge $20 or $25 for a taste of 4 wines. Granted, they are great wines, but no other wineries charged us for tasting. We even asked if it was normal in CA to be charged that much per tasting and he told is yes. Good wine,... More

We had a perfect evening at Ram's Gate. We were seated outside overlooking a small lake and the vineyards in the California Sun. We ordered a flight and charcuterie boards for the entire table. The meats, cheeses, jellies, mustard, and breads were to die for and a perfect compliment to the 6 wines that we tasted. I ended up bringing... More

This is a BEAUTIFUL facility. The buildings and tasting areas are impeccably decorated and looked comfortable. We reserved a picnic to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted and ushered into the bar where we selected the wine for our picnic. Someone then walked us outside and helped us choose a shady spot by the pond overlooking the valley. He laid... This was our first stop and we were spoilt as no others came close to this for wine and ambience. Views of the vineyards from the patio were fantastic. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and peaceful surroundings. We only stayed for about one hour and a half but should have stayed for longer. It's lovely to just wander around the... More

Had made a reservation on line - they had a table with our name on it outside waiting for us. Dog friendly. Slow and steady is the pace here, this is not a quick stop wine tasting. Great service, perfect views and some good wine.

We visited Ram's gate for an afternoon picnic with a couple of friends. The weather was beautiful and the location was perfect. Since it was the weekend, traffic was a little bad but otherwise the drive was pleasant. We were greeted at the entrance by the staff and after checking us in we were offered a selection of 3 wines... More

This place is amazing! First off, the interior space is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the wines are delicious. But the outside patio and pond are what really sells this place, I pinch myself every time I visit...it's that beautiful. You can even order a picnic (which I highly recommend), they even provide you with a... More

Had a reservation for private tasting on the deck. What a view! Great tasting with wine and cheese. Told to take as much time as we wanted. Left our wine to go down and walk vineyard and to pond, came back to fresh water and wine still there for us. You can definitely go picnic by the pond without a... More

we were on the way back to the Bay Area from Sonoma on July 5, and decided to stop at Ram's gate. We were lucky that they let us in without having a reservation. As of August 1, you WILL need a reservation to visit the facility. We were greeted and allowed to stand at their bar, since all the... More
