This is a real cheese factory. Only two blocks off the Square in Sonoma, it is a locally owned business that has been in town for a long time. Ig Vella, the cheese maker, even has a local bridge named after him. The cheese is very good, and you can taste varieties before purchasing.

It's a little off the beaten path, but we walked to the Cheese Company while exploring downtown Sonoma and really enjoyed the tasting of cheese, and explanation of how they prepared a few of the cheeses. Couldn't help buy some to take home! We'll be going back! You shouldn't pass up a visit.

A must stop while in Sonoma. Just a couple blocks north of the square on 2nd street east. You can sample any cheese there and all are delicious. Their aged jacks are the best.

The cheese from this shop was delicious! I had read a review from someone else that it was worth finding even if it was off the main strip. It's just a tiny shop but we were the only ones in there and the woman gave us samples of several cheeses. Everything was so good. We thought the prices were very... More

Samples had little distinction in same genre. Crackers mostly broken and refills just dumped on them. Staff not really into the experience. Cheese pricey.

My wife and I love this place! we found it several vacations ago, in 2001. We will not miss this stop. They offer award winning artisanal cheeses, each with a very unique and distinct personality. Everything from mild original and flavored soft High Moisture Jack, to very dense and potent Dry Jack. Italian Asiago, Toma, and table cheeses, and complex... More

The cheese samples were plentiful and delicious. The history of the Vella Cheese Company and the building is worth the trip. My favorite cheese is the dry monterey jack that they are famous for. The cheese made great gifts to bring home to family and friends. What a great find!
