Very much worth a quick stop to taste their cheeses[ sold at many local wineries] or stock up on provisions for a picnic. It is a pleasant and short walk from the downtown/square area. They will let you sample their wares before you buy.

A bit out of the way but well worth the search. The best Sonoma cheese by far for many, many years. Sharp Cheddar, my favorite. Jack on the wheel, and the dried Jack. Asiago with green peppercorns!

I love cheese! And this place was very nice. They only make cow's milk cheese, but the selection is great. The staff is friendly and they let you taste the cheeses before you buy them. Great value!

Wonderful cheeses, very good selection that you can try before you buy. I visited the store on a food walking tour it is on a side street a couple blocks from the plaza. Bring a cooler on hot days so you can keep your cheese fresh.

We were first introduced to Vella Dry Jack Cheese when we were in Sonoma, CA. For years we have been able to buy the cheese at a local store in Albuquerque but we have not been able to get it for several months. I finally looked up the company on the internet and found that I could order direct from... More

This is a real cheese factory. Only two blocks off the Square in Sonoma, it is a locally owned business that has been in town for a long time. Ig Vella, the cheese maker, even has a local bridge named after him. The cheese is very good, and you can taste varieties before purchasing.

It's a little off the beaten path, but we walked to the Cheese Company while exploring downtown Sonoma and really enjoyed the tasting of cheese, and explanation of how they prepared a few of the cheeses. Couldn't help buy some to take home! We'll be going back! You shouldn't pass up a visit.
