Ravenswood Zinfandel is always good and their reserve bottles available only at the tasting room and even better.

We went here as it was right down the road from where we are staying. The people pouring the wine were very liberal with their pours and I probably ended up tasting a couple more than the 5 allotted tastes that come for the $15. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ended up buying a bottle of the Dickerson 2010. All... More

Ravenswood was the first winery my husband and I have ever visited because the name sounded very familiar. The property is amazing and so peaceful. Merrill helped us out behind the counter and he's great at what he does. Not knowing much about wine, he was very patient and very informative. In the end, we bought a glass of wine... More

While Ravenswood has kept up with the competition, expanding since I last visited their original tasting room decades ago, I was pleased that the quality of the wine and the essence of who they are has not been lost. Zinfandel lovers will not be disappointed. The rosato also is nice. Fabulous views from their patio beckon visitors to relax and... More

Completely surpassed my expectations. I expected something commercial, given how common Ravenswood is in grocery stores. But the winery was small and intimate, the tasting was wonderful with very generous pours, very friendly people working there. We enjoyed a cheese plate with a couple glasses of wine on the back patio and had a wonderful time.

Excellent visit to Ravenswood with friendly service and nice views. This winery had great wine that covered a lot of ground. True, they obviously specialize in Zinfandels, but our tasting had 2 whites, a rose and a muscat in addition to the four Zins poured. All were very good. I think the fee was $10 or $15 but was waived... More

A friend with great wine sensibility told us that Ravenswood was our ONLY "must-do" in Sonoma. I was skeptical because I knew they were a high-volume winery and I expected a very commercial experience. This was precisely the opposite. We were warmly welcomed, and Peter customized to some specific wines that our friend had recommended. We decided to sign up... More

We took friends to Ravenswood based on its reputation for being casual and laid-back, like California Wine Country has always been (but maybe less and less so over in Napa Valley). The wine was great and our pourer was friendly, informative, and funny. We all really enjoyed our experience.

The tour presents the organic small house vintages, not the massive 800,000 bottle operation. While the winemaking is no longer done on premises, the setting is rustic with a lot of charm, and the hosts are friendly and knowledgeable.

My husband and I always make it our business to visit Ravenswood when we are in Sonoma. Our first time there, I reserved a blending session w Peter... A fantastic experience that every person who loves wine should try.
