Overall had a nice time at Sonoma...definitely plan for the traffic. Got there well over 2 hours early and sat in traffic. Race was great, make sure you check out various vantage points. After seeing this track on TV for many years we thought we'd detour to check it out. Well worth the effort. There was a track day on so the facility was open. Had a great chance to wander around and enjoy the sights. Also a great gift shop.

Having been to quite a few road course tracks I was not prepared for the magnitude of Sonoma. The 'gift shop' alone if unlike any other. This is the best road course out there. Parking at times can be a bit difficult, get there early on event days. Food has greatly impoved.

I had not been here since the early 1990s, but returned to watch the IndyCar race in August and it I was very impressed. They have made so many improvements! I'm not sure why they have changed the name from Sears Point to Sonoma Raceway... The track looks fun and there are several viewpoints you can drive to to overlook it. The shop has a variety of t-shirts at a decent price as well as racer gear.

As a spectator, there are several locations where you can get close, unobstructed sightlines to the track, which is great if you're an amateur photographer. We went to the races because a family member was racing. Our tickets were held at the office. Two young woman were handling the envelopes. We got ours and headed for the gate.
