These little critters are well-cared for. The Studs are in one area, mares in another, and mares with youngsters in their own field. We got to see one mare and her 4-day old baby inside in a comfy room.

We stopped here 3 time during a recent road vacation with our 4 year old son. He loved every minute of it. Peaceful tranquil setting. At the time we visited, they had 2 baby horses just 6 days old, what fun it was to watch them. Thank you to the owner for opening up your ranch and sharing this experience... More

This time 2 babies had just been born and when you pet a baby miniature horse, every stress you have in your body disappears instantly! I could spend hours petting those babies!

If you are on Alamo Pintado road between Santa Ines and Los Olivos, you should stop and admire these adorable little horses in the field at their ranch. They are adorable and it only takes a minute or two to stop and admire their sweetness and beauty. Something you don't see everyday for sure.

This ranch, which specializes in miniature horses, is good for a stop if you're driving between Solvang and Los Olivos. Also if you're fond of horses, or have kids in the car. It's free and 100% unguided -- there didn't seem to be anyone in charge when we visited on a Saturday -- and our experience with miniature horses suggests... More

We have stopped here many times and my kids love seeing the horses. Lucky enough this time that two babies were out in the field enjoying themselves and us :)

Hardly anyone there when we arrived but nice to be able to walk the grounds. Saw a foal that was only 3 days old. A true highlight.

We took the short drive here to see the ponies, and our daughter loved it. We had no expectations because we knew that there wouldn't be anything happening, and that this was not a guided tour. We did walk around for 15 minutes taking photos and watching the horses graze, but unfortunately, they didn't approach us. This is fine to... More

Located about 3 miles from the center of Solvang, this farm breeds and sells miniature horses. The horses roam free in several large fenced fields. Visitors walk along the outside of the fence and view the horses. Often if you stand near the fence, the horses will walk up to you. Stay a few feet from the fence and do... More

If you and/or your children like animals, here is a chance to see adorable miniature horses up close and personal and FREE. Even without children, this is a must stop place for us whenever we go anywhere in or near Los Olivos, Solvang, Ballard or en route up the Central Coast. Usually we try to come in the spring, because... More
