Very interesting Mission. Lots of antique artifacts and beautiful gardens. Self guided tour with facts and details on the lives of the Chumash Indians which inhabited the area where the Mission was built. Very inexpensive activity for families.

Peaceful and right in the middle of the town of Solvang. Love the garden area. Bells and church remind you of long ago.

I attended a wedding here. It was beautiful for the wedding and the acoustics were excellent. It was an excellent setting for a wedding! The interior of the church is gorgeous!

There is a beautiful apple tree out back. There are a couple of the original arch/pillars in the front, but the place is mostly rebuilt, so the antique feel just isn't there. It's basically a relatively NEW edifice. The view of the countryside facing AWAY from the building is nice, especially if you go at dusk. Other than that, it... More

Went to the Mission Santa Inés, during our trip to Solvang. The Mission was founded in 1804. Good view of the Santa Ynez River Valley and the Santa Ynez and San Rafael mountain ranges from here. I has collections of artwork and paintings, statuary, vestments, manuscripts, and artifacts.

This is a lovely little mission and active church. It has a good interpretive garden/working area beyond the church. A contrast to La Purrissima's extensive grounds in Lompoc, close enough to visit both.

This was the first mission I've ever seen! It is very beautiful. As we were passing by the open doors, we realized they were actually holding mass inside! It was very moving to see service still being held there. Very beautiful.

My wife and I are on a tour of the California missions. As a kid I saw many of them but now retired I am going back to see them all with my wife. This was number 2 of the 21. I love the early California history and it is well told through these.

Nothing really special about this place. But we still went to check it out. Walked around in the small gift shop and that's pretty much it.

This is actual California history. We felt like we were back in the time of Fr Serra and celebrated Mass in this very charming mission. The grounds harken back to a time long ago, and made us envision the circumstances (bad & good) leading up to the construction of this and the other 20 missions.
