Played here for second time Both times have played Black Horse. Course was in very good shape Pace of play was right around two hours for front nine. Odd situation on 10. Group in front of us stopped for lunch. They came out in cut back in on 10 in front of us and messed up the pace. Member in... More

Always play either of these golf courses when visiting Monterey. I like challenging golf courses and definitely enjoy both of these courses!

There are many (too many?) options to play golf in the Monterrey area. Sure, Pebble, etc. are fabulous and bucket list type experiences. But who can pay $450 round after round (or wants to?) . Located maybe 10 minutes north of Monterrey in Seaside, these 2 courses wander up and down a rolling hillside on the old Fort Ord property.... More

After playing Bayonet 4 times and raving about it, we finally played Blackhorse on our third trip back to the peninsula and were a bit dissapointed. I'm currently a 5 handicap and I'll say that it was in beautiful condition and was scenic, with great tee shots, but we found the greens gimmicky. The greens on Bayonet...very challenging, but also... More

First time to Blackhorse Golf course, great course for the money, approx $85.00 , morning t-time. When you consider Pebble Beach Golf Links, at $500.00 per round I'd about 10 miles away , thus us a must play for the golf enthusiast ! The best, and fastest greens I have ever putted on , bar none, not even Pebble Beach,... More

This is off the beaten path and is overlooked for visitors looking to play the Pebble Beach area golf courses. This course will challenge you with fast sloped greens and you have to be long off the tee of you are playing all the way back. The course was in great shape and the people were very friendly. The round... More

We started our retirement trip at Blackhorse and continued two days later at Bayonet. We were not disappointed by either course. The Blackhorse has very tough, undulating greens and magnificent scenery is at both. Bayonet has many more trees and more ocean views with more elevation. It is supposed to be the tougher course, but did not play that way... More

Fast greens, good conditioning, friendly staff, food cart made the rounds several times, just great golf and if the wheels come off there is always the scenery to look at!

Not a golfer so I can't talk about the golfing experience. However, according to the locals, the two courses are just as good as the other links on the Monterey Peninsula, at a much lower rate. Have dinned at the Bayonet Grill many times for both lunch and breakfast. Never had a bad meal. The service is prompt and excellent,... More
