If you are visiting SF and have limited time, I would not recommend Sausalito at all. It is small town with nothing to do - just eclectic shopping and eating. The Visitor's Center is a small building with a cute old lady who goes on-and on-and on about how bad the tourist map of Sausalito is and how visitor's do... More

If you are in San Francisco, do not miss a side adventure to the seaside village of Sausalito. Lots of restaurants, almost all on the water with great views of San Francisco, complemented by a large variety of boutique style shopping for trinkets, jewelry, art, or t-shirts. It is a lovely little walking village accessible by car, taxi, or the... More

We visited this little town after a long hike in Muir Woods. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. A lot of the places are a bit pricey but there are some places that are more moderately priced as well. The center square of the town has a pretty fountain and cool lamp posts that make a... More

Wow what a wonderful place to visit, it is a very pretty little town with quirky little shops and great restaurants, with lovely views across the bay. We went across by bus and then took the ferry back to San Francisco, just so we could get different views of the wonderful scenery. Definitely a must see place to visit.

The Sausalito Visitors Center is located in the city center and has a full time staff person to answer questions. They do have maps and suggestions for sightseeing trips, bike rentals, etc.

I was welcomed warmly and directed promptly as needed. I learned the sea food restaurant could not rely on local supplies and was quite disappointed. You expect otherwise when on the sea shore. I went for something else.

This is a really pretty spot with a good range of shops to wander around and a variety of places to eat and drink. My son, who has lived in San Francisco for ten years , and is keenly interested in the music that he heard as a child, tells me that the wall that I was sitting on, looking... More

What a nice little place this is to visit and just stroll around. We took a bus there, but there is a regular ferry that goes from somewhere around Pier 39. Apparently, Sausalito was voted the 6th cutest town in the USA, but I have no idea by whom. Maybe by thee guy that told me? Nice place for a... More

What a great tranquil area. I enjoyed the Holiday Shop (great San Francisco trinkets) and I thoroughly loved my wine tasting experience at Bacchus and Venus (great blend – yummy). The marina docks were beautiful, the view was awesome and the walk ways were super friendly… .. JUST be mindful of the cyclists! They DOMINANT the streets! Nice but not... More
