As the first stop on our tour of the Santa Ynez region, Sunstone has a killer Grenache Blanc and some other great options. I would definitely recommend a stop here to check out a very neat wine cave nestled in the hillside behind the tasting room. Sunstone also has for sale some great olive oils and balsamic vinegars, tastings free.

Driving out to Sunstone one can't help but feel anticipation for what's to come up in such a beautiful landscape. We passed a few vineyards on the way down Refugio Road, but my friend insisted that we hold out for the gorgeousness of Sunstone. So we did, and yes it was very pretty, but it became very clear within minutes... More

We decided to stop off at Sunstone above the other vinyards in the region - and we're so glad we did. It was a beautiful stop for lunch and wine tasting. This French Provincial-inspired wine tasting room will not disappoint. We took our own picnic lunch, and sat on the tables in their beautiful grounds with a glass of their... More

Way off the beaten path this winery is gorgeous. They have a great wine cave that is fun to sit on a sip a glass. We also loved the samples of olive oils and balsamic vinegars that they had. The blood orange olive oil and balsamic vinegar were so amazing we bought several bottles to bring home. If they'd let... More

Outstanding wine--I especially love the Cabernet Franc and the Rhapsodie and Eros blends--and wonderful scenery and a great bunch of people working there make this a magical spot. You can enjoy the caves in the back, particularly a special lounge with the old vintages if you're a wine club member (it doesn't cost anything to join, you just commit to... More

I am a Santa Ynez novice, so don't put too much weight in my calling Sunstone my favorite. We visited four wineries in the Santa Ynez area: Sunstone, Beckman, Gainey, and Bridlewood. Of the four, Sunstone and Beckman are smaller; Gainey and Bridlewood are large and gorgeous. What do you want? The tasting room @ Gainey looks like a movie... More

Travelled with my boston terrier (not a big dog). Nobody was there. I thought it would be ok to sit outside way to the side where we would be out of the way. Remember - there was NOBODY there. I paid for 2 tastings. Barely sat down when an employee came and told me that dogs were not allowed. I... More

I really enjoyed going to this winery - this was the second time I've been there. As a bonus, they have a good selection of house made oils and vinegar for dipping bread.
