We spent some peaceful and interesting time in the Luther Burbank gardens.   Emerson once said “the earth laughs in flowers” and Burbank spent his life relishing that concept.  Luther Burbank was a famed horticulturalist who made his home in Santa Rosa for over 50 years.  On his Santa Rosa garden site and in a nearby experimental garden, Burbank conducted the plant-breeding... Luther Burbank created the profession of plant breeder in the late 1800s. To be able to visit his farm is an important pilgrimage to anyone with a horticulture background. The grounds are well maintained by the City of Santa Rosa and by volunteers. Although the property is smaller than its original size, the remaining grounds do a good job of... More

Located close to downtown, the Gardens are serene & there are picnic spots available. Docents are friendly & offer history of Burbank's many gardening accomplishments. Fun for all family members & they have wonderful plant sales, too.

I always admired Luther Burbank's work, but knew only the small portion of his many achievements discussed in history class. My visit to his home and gardens was very enjoyable and eye opening. I saw plants I had never seen and read about his work on plants I grow that he developed! The grounds are well maintained and show the... More

Nice destination on your Greenway walk. The safe street crossing buttons are slow and/or out-of-service.

We stopped in Santa Rosa on our way to Kenwood, decided to visit the gardens, and learn more about Luther Burbank. We took the home tour (for a modest fee) and were really glad we did, since the docent was very knowledgeable about Luther and his secretary/second wife. What an interesting man and so smart for being relatively uneducated. The... More

If you're into gardens this is a place to go. Small but beautiful with lot's of history. You can also visit Luther Burbank's house. There's a small gift shop and historical information throughout the garden.

Didn't realize Burbank was so instrumental in developing so many varieties of fruits, vegetables and flowers! Relaxing visit to the grounds - especially good time to meander through the garden in spring with everything in bloom!
