Anyone interested in plants will enjoy this site commemorating the work of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank, who introduced over 800 new plant varieties, including the Idaho Potato. The site includes an acre of gardens with many of the naturalist's creations, a beautiful greenhouse he built in 1889, and his Greek Revival home.

The Memorial Garden is an homage to the great Luther Burbank, the master horticulturist and genetic genius and well worth the hour it takes. Many of his cross breading flower masterpieces are on display. We were not there on a group tour guide day but self-guided working tour information is available by cellphone.

Located in downtown Santa Rosa, the home of Luther Burbank's wife is a wonderful way to spend an hour or so learning about this amazing person's journey into plant breeding- from flowers to fruit trees there is little that Luther did not impact. Worth the trip

Lovely gardens and home where Luther Burbank lived and contributed so much to the horticultural field. The tour was small and very interesting; we learned a lot and enjoyed it very much.

Excellent small group tours with knowledgable guides included in museum price. See a lot and learn a lot including tour of home. No photos in home which is out of sync with current movement to allow digital photos without flash.

You should make time to visit. We went early in the morning and did the tour by using our cell phones telling about the various plant stations. I never knew he basically developed the "Idaho" potato we all love while he was in Massachusetts .

Very nice place in the city to just take a walk and experience some wonderful gardens! I was not expecting such a quiet beautiful place in the city right off the highway. We parked right in front on the street and just walked in, very convenient. You could walk the place in as little as an hour or spend many... More

Luther Burbank, a rather eccentric and well-known historical figure of his time, was the inventor of over 800 different kinds of plants. His house and gardens are open for tours. It's a fascinating place for gardener for the obvious reasons, and for history buffs also because historical figures such as Thomas Edison and Henry Ford visited this house. The gardens... More

then you are missing a whole world of scientific experiments, all the while probably eating some foods he created. Unfortunately I feel that the gardens are severely lacking. Since I grew up in Santa Rosa I have seen how the aging process has killed some plants, or weakened them causing them to be removed. The gardens have changed. But be... More

My daughters and I visit this cool little piece of history every time we are in the area. Luther Burbank was an exceptional horticulturist who worked and lived in Santa Rosa. His house still remains which you can tour for a few $ as well as a garden of his most interesting fruit and flower hybrids that you can roam... More
