Great setting and good product. The wines are robust and not overly complicated - much like myself. We met the wine maker who was charming. The lady who talked us through the tasting (Nancy I think) was OK if a little patronising. Front of house receptionist needs some customer service training as comes over as rude. Concerning other reviews, they... More

The winery has a beautiful setting and picnic area. If you come with your own food and wine it's an advantage. Unfortunately, the service and the attitude do not match the setting, in fact it seems that you are not a welcomed visitor or customer but more of a nuisance, the way they do not seem to pay any attention... My roommate discovered this beautiful facility from a friend. The winery has some really good wines, there is a wine and cheese tasting for $25 per person. This is a very affordable price for the experience that you receive. The tasting itself is done outside under a beautifully decorated patio setting that is overlooking their picnic area. You have the... More

I gave my husband a wine membership for Christmas and it was the best gift ever. We had been here many times but now as club members we really get to enjoy some of the extras that come with being a member. We just discover Journey-Wow. Please taste it next time you are here. It was our first time attending... More

I was at the winery 20 years ago and it has only gotten better. renowned for their reds the merlot is fabulous. the tasting was unrushed and thorough with a very charming guy pouring. Bought one bottle of merlot ($70) a bit on the pricier side but well worth the money. Best winery experience in Sonoma for my money aand... More

We were a group of 8 who drove to Matanzas Creek upon the recommendation of our concierge at the Hyatt-Sta. Rosa, Sonoma. The 30-minute drive was along the country-side of the wine region and with some help from the GPS, was able to find the place. We were looking forward to seeing the lavender fields but for this time of the... More

We visited this winery on a Tuesday morning and it was delightful! The gardens are lovely and the lavender smells wonderful--they are beginning to harvest the lavender and it was interesting to see that process. I enjoy Sauvignon blanc and they produce 4 different varieties so it was enjoyable sample all the different types. The Zinfandel was also excellent. Overall,... More

The property around the tasting room is beautiful and the tasting room itself makes you feel as though you are in a refined tree house. The tour was led by an extremely patient lady named Judy and the information she provided was well worth the two hours we spent on the tour and tasting. One thing you will find at... More

"The place with the lavender." That's how I described Matanzas Creek Winery to my mother and girlfriend when I suggested it be our next stop while travelling through Sonoma. I'd checked their website and didn't see any dessert wine, but I'd also seen the pictures of the lavender on Yelp, and figured it would be worth stopping by. Besides, sometimes... More

This is lovely winery. We were there May 20th and the lavender was not yet in bloom. If you are in Napa try to get to Matanzas around Memorial Day. If all the lavender is in bloom it will be spectacular.
