Found this winery while traveling the back roads. Beautiful surroundings. Went in and was helped by Judy. She was great and spent alot of time with us when it was her lunchtime. Told us alot about the history of the winery and was very generous in helping us try new wines. We actually found we like Chardonnay and joined the... More

Our first stop on our first trip to the Napa/Sonoma area. We booked a wine and cheese tasting in advance. Enjoyed our wine and cheese on the deck with a great winery representative. The beautiful weather and idyllic setting only enhanced our experience. Ended up joining the wine club and the wines we have received have not disappointed us.

Matanzas is a wonderful winery with great wine and beautiful views. The lavender garden is pretty and a nice area to walk around. There are several picnic tables, where we like to pack a picnic and buy a bottle of wine to sit and enjoy the scenery. The staff has always been friendly. There are several items for purchase (wine... More

Matanzas Creek is one of my favorite Sonoma wineries. It is situated in Bennet valley, a rural road not too far from the town of Sonoma. The winery features outstanding lavendar gardens and top quality lavendar products, as well as delicious wines. The tasting room is built into a huge old valley oak, like a tree house. Everybody who visits... More

Matanzas is one of our favorites and so happy they finished re-paving the road between the property & Sonoma. I had a business trip in Petaluma and took the long way back to Sacramento so I could unwind for 2 hours. Ended up getting a bunch of work done at the same time. Weather came in and it was actually... More

This vineyard is located quite a distance from the main road and the hilly, very narrow road to it is in very poor condition. I don't understand how grape trucks and delivery vehicles can navigate it at the same time and night driving would be very scary. But the drive is worth it. The tasting center and admin office is... Visted in October before returning my rental to STS so the lavender had already been cut way back. I can only imagine, and I've seen the photos, how gorgeous the grounds must be when the lavender is front and center. The tasting room is a little odd and felt like an office to me. Walking past the outside tables, the... More

We had a nice leisurely drive from Sonoma to this winery, and then came in for the tour. Very informative tour of the gardens focusing a lot on the lavender business. Followed the tour with a wine tasting, and of course we purchased some wines which we enjoyed later. Tour cost was $9.00 per person and totally worth it.

This winery has great local wines. If you want ideas for a low or zero watering landscape, you would be wise to check out their magnificent gardens. In the spring they have a lavender fair. This winery is well worth the bucolic drive for great wine and food tasting or bring your own lunch and enjoy the picnic tables and... More

Initially, I was very excited to drive out to this winery considering they had a 2 for 1 coupon on a wine and cheese pairing that they advertised on a few website and I had read great reviews. When we arrived, the views were amazing BUT we were not greeted until we approached the counter, we were told that they... More
