Great concerts and so much character to this venue/shop. They have every kind of guitar you can think of, and all of them decorate the walls of this unique place. It's a musicians dream. Great vibes and good tune-age.

We were visiting because it was recommended in the guide book. Obviously we couldn't buy much as we were getting a flight back to England. These guys made us feel really welcome. When they discovered we were from England they introduced us to their colleague who it turns out comes from the same part of the U.K. as me! There... More

We unknowingly were in Santa Monica when Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary) performed here, so we got tickets and were part of a very small audience (25-30?!) who enjoyed hearing him sing, play guitar, and answer our questions. It was wonderful!

Just over the road from TravelLodge Santa Monica a convenient place to have a looksee. Coffee is available which is a plus and I don't think I have ever seen so many guitars in one place in my life. The 1st floor is rich with memorabilia and has numerous sound studios. Intimate concerts are held in the back room and... More

This little venue is almost like watching a show in someone's basement. Good little venue that holds about 100 people. Nice staff. NO ALCOHOL. Comfortable, nice little place.

McCabes is a legendary concert venue. Small enough that there is not a bad seat in the house. They book quality acts and the ticket prices are good. Cookies and tea are a dollar each.

I went into McCabe's for some bass guitar strings. I just started learning how to play, so I didn't know what kind to buy, but assumed they could help me. I brought in my guitar to show them what I had, and they told me there was only one kind of set that would work, and it cost $65. I... More

If you like acoustic music, if you want to go to a store where you can go to the back room and try out the guitars that are hanging on the walls, or if you just want to look at the unusual instruments that are hanging on the walls I suggest you check them out. You'll get a sense of... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
