Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting...

Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting, idea-creating, fashion-making appeal of Santa Monica. Here will be a nexus of great retail suited to this one-of-a-kind, world-famous city by the beach. In place of a formerly enclosed, suburban mall, a distinctive, open-air shopping magnet is being created. Santa Monica Place will maximize its beachside setting to bring together fresh ocean breezes, marquee retailers and sun-dappled walkways. Macy's will remain open during the redevelopment of the new Santa Monica Place.

It is anchored by Nordstrom and also has a Bloomingdales (although quite a small one) and a number of other high end/moderate stores (Diane Von Furstenberg, BDBG, Camper, Hugo Boss, Kitson) and quite a number of other notables (Kate Spade, Ted Baker, Coach etc). I loved the open air aspect of it - fits very well with the Santa Monica... More

I find that every time I visit Santa Monica Place, there is something new, which I love. It has some of my favourite stores all within walking distance of each other... what is there to dislike about that. I find it's the best way to start my Santa Monica shopping experience. The store selection is wonderful and the open air... More

Very good, recently built mall at the end of the Promenade. Great for visitors and residents. Contains some moderately affordable and high end shops, as well as a food court on the top floor where you can have brunch or dinner. Parking is located in the garage and there's easy access to the rest of the 3rd street promenade from... More

The Place is immaculate and very well designed since it was remodeled about a few years ago. The food court has a good selection of Sbarro's, Japanese food, Mexican, and Johnny Rocket's. The only downside is that most of the stores are targeted at customers that are willing to spend a lot. However, it's a nice mall to walk through... More

Its a fun short walk full of restaurants and shops.. Some people dancing or singing in the streets. There are some dinosaur sculptures, the funny thing is that they have their bodys made of tree leaves cut down to look like them.

We've been here many times over the last 15 years and it of course has majorly transformed now. Tiffany, Kitson, Swarovski, Hugo Boss all have stores here (among many others). It has a couple of levels and includes places to eat. It's open air and has a space on the roof where you can sit and relax in between shopping.... More

Unfortunately, our camera was stolen while we were shopping here. Completely unexpected based not the clientele and caliber of stores. Lesson learned: thieves are everywhere. Watch your stuff

An open air shopping mall in Santa Monica. Seems recently constructed. Looks new and modern. Nice architecture as well.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
