Description: Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting...
Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting, idea-creating, fashion-making appeal of Santa Monica. Here will be a nexus of great retail suited to this one-of-a-kind, world-famous city by the beach. In place of a formerly enclosed, suburban mall, a distinctive, open-air shopping magnet is being created. Santa Monica Place will maximize its beachside setting to bring together fresh ocean breezes, marquee retailers and sun-dappled walkways. Macy's will remain open during the redevelopment of the new Santa Monica Place.

I thought the Santa Monica Pier would be just the thing to treat the nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews after a visit to the Getty. I was wrong. Instead of lingering at the Pier, we climbed up to Santa Monica Place and found the Food Court on the roof. Everybody was able to get exactly what they wanted from the... More

Came here early Dec at late evening with majority of stores closed, my relative told me on weekends it is always packed. Majority are name brand stores but the neighborhood shopping area is quite nice to walk around. Pass by one of the biggest Apple Store I have seen, will come back one day when the stores are open.

Santa Monica Place hosts lots of shops, most of them actually quite expensive. However, when we were there there was a sale the day after but we bought a jacket for the same price as on the sale, only we had to pick it up the day after. The area around Santa Monica Place is crowded with good shopping. Really... More

Mad traffic both car and foot. Takes hours to get in, out or around the area. I would head elsewhere unless you want to walk along the pier as well and the shopping is just a side dish.

Love this place, there's a Hot Topic, a Disney Store, Bloomingdale's and other cool stores. There's also a food corner with different possibilities to choose.

This mall is awesome! It's architecture is really modern and beautiful. The shops located in are nice and interesting. The food hall has tones of delicious looking restaurants!

Interesting mix of shops and restaurants. Top floor Food Court offers comfortable outdoors seating with an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Bay.

We stopped off here for food after the bus journey from downtown, before heading to the beach. There were some nice shops and it was a really modern centre, great to wander around. There was a food court upstairs that had a selection of cheap cuisines to choose from, as well as more fancy restaurants if you want that. We... More

We loved the old Santa Monica Place, so we weren't sure what to expect when it was totally rebuilt a couple years ago. This was our first visit to the "new" Place, and it was well worth the stop. It has a great variety of stores including the top anchors (Bloomingdales and Nordstroms) and the open-air layout is very nice.... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
