Description: Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting...
Santa Monica Place will be designed to reflect the trend-setting, idea-creating, fashion-making appeal of Santa Monica. Here will be a nexus of great retail suited to this one-of-a-kind, world-famous city by the beach. In place of a formerly enclosed, suburban mall, a distinctive, open-air shopping magnet is being created. Santa Monica Place will maximize its beachside setting to bring together fresh ocean breezes, marquee retailers and sun-dappled walkways. Macy's will remain open during the redevelopment of the new Santa Monica Place.

Santa Monica has the best shopping strip in LA. Large pedestrian area with all the best shops close together. So much of LA requires a car trip between shops but this area is a pleasant stroll.

Nice outdoor shopping, more on the high end type store though. Nice clean area with great restaurants to choose from on third floor.

Lots of shops and options for everyone in the family. Love the stores outside in the open space! You can first go to Venice Beach and then do some shopping here. Then stay for dinner.

I simply love the outdoor atmosphere of this incredible shopping centre. High end stores means high prices but great selection and fabulous places to eat!

My husband and I took Santa Monica Big Blue Bus No. 3 from Los Angeles Bus Depot at Los Angeles International Airport for a day trip to Santa Monica. The bus stopped right in front of the shopping centre. Our first stop was Bloomingdale. Lovely store but really high end, the handbags were around $300 or more. It was Chinese... More

Many upscale brands here and the 3rd level food court with the kids play area is a hit with my 5 year old. The market area is also unique with many local companies selling coffee, cheese, soaps and oils.

I thought the Santa Monica Pier would be just the thing to treat the nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews after a visit to the Getty. I was wrong. Instead of lingering at the Pier, we climbed up to Santa Monica Place and found the Food Court on the roof. Everybody was able to get exactly what they wanted from the... More

Came here early Dec at late evening with majority of stores closed, my relative told me on weekends it is always packed. Majority are name brand stores but the neighborhood shopping area is quite nice to walk around. Pass by one of the biggest Apple Store I have seen, will come back one day when the stores are open.

Santa Monica Place hosts lots of shops, most of them actually quite expensive. However, when we were there there was a sale the day after but we bought a jacket for the same price as on the sale, only we had to pick it up the day after. The area around Santa Monica Place is crowded with good shopping. Really... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
