The half-day fishing trips on the Velocity are a great way to get on the water and enjoy the Monterey Bay near Santa Cruz. In general, I believe the fish most people will catch on the half-day rockfishing trips are going to be smaller on average than those caught on a full day trip because the reefs they are fishing... I have been to SJ seven times in last nine years and curse myself that I missed it. 4 hours of excitement multiple whale spotting. Excellent guidance. I suffered from sea sickness but the guide and crew was very caring and supportive. A+ experience. I will revisit but have avomine prior to the trip.

Great view from the second floor. Santa Cruz boardwalk on one side Steamer ' s lain on the other. The food is the fresh and the portions sufficient. I go for the smoked salmon.

Firstly, it was easy to talk to them on the phone to get more information. Also even though I made a reservation for 7, two of us could not go because of illness and even though they were not full (ie they could not resell our seats), after discussion with the owner, they gave us a refund for the two... We just got back from a half-day fishing trip with Stagnaro, and had an amazing time. We paid the extra for the poles and rigging, as well as a one-day license. Arrived at the dock at the appointed time, and the Velocity - beautiful and comfortable boat - boarded and off we went. Sunrise was spectacular, and we were in... More

The cost of this 4 hour trip was £40 and boy was it worth it. The boat took us into Monterey Bay and we were soon with the Whales. They came right up to the boat, at one time we had seven whales circling the boat. There was also Sea lions, seals, sea otters, sea birds to see. A wonderful,... More

We went on a whale watching trip on the Velocity and it was wonderful! Saw many whales and sea lions. Naturalist was very nice and spoke with everyone on the boat. She was very informative and pleasant. Highly recommend!

Many thanks to Cap'n Gabe and crew, Megan and Greg! We had a wonderful time. Saw lots of sea life, and although the Humpbacks were a bit "elusive" we were able to capture some good footage of whales, dolphins and otter parties :-)). Not to be missed if you are in Santa Cruz.

We started with a short orientation by Maureen, our naturalist, who was helpful and attentive throughout. During the cruise we saw large groups of dolfins, sea lions, a few sea otters and about 10 humpback whales. So majestic and calm. The crew was very friendly and were always on the lookout for marine life. Highly recommended.
