The best place for walking by the ocean in Santa Cruz. You will also enjoy watching the colorful and interesting local people :-)

This is a very nice seaside walk. I suggest paying the entry fee to visit Natural Bridge State Park, and then leaving your car there for your walk. This is what we did, and ended up going all the way to the Santa Cruz pier and back (about 6 miles). The walk is level and paved, with lots of benches... More

This is a top tourist desination in Santa Cruz, but for all the right reasons. The best way to go is to park (wherever you can find a spot), and then walk the path that follows along side West Cliff Drive for as far as you like. It runs from the wharf, all the way to Natural Bridges state park... More

This is a wonderful walk, run, or place to just sit and look at the ocean. If you start at one end, and do a round trip, you get in 5 miles. It's a beautiful view, and you smell the ocean. You sometimes get to see the surfers enjoying the waves. Great place to also see some amazing homes and... More

What a wonderful place to visit and with zero cost you've got no reason not to come check it out. Bring some binoculars so you can really check out the wildlife. We saw a mother Otter nursing two pups which was impossible to see without binoculars. Do yourself a favor, get out of your car and walk the whole thing... More

In winter, the drive is generally quiet. In the summer, be prepared for much foot and vehicle traffic if you stay in a hotel overlooking the drive. It is the easy access to the Wharf, Boardwalk, Surfer's Museum and points beyond.

This is one of our favorite places to walk. Stop to watch the surfers or otters frolicking. There's also the surfers museum if you're so inclined!

Smell the ocean, looking at the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, watch some whales, dolphins, seals, pelicans, sea otters and and and....watch the surfers at Steamer Lane.... watch all the dogs playing at the dog beach (now an only on leash area) but we are from Santa Cruz and really don't care about that new rule. ... this is the...
