ocean view stroll

The sea lions are the main attraction on the wharf. The view of the bay is fantastic and the shops and restaurants offer a wide variety of options.

The wharf has a little of everything that characterizes Santa Cruz, and no visit to the area without a stop there would be complete. The juxtaposition of the natural and man-made, views of West Cliff and the Boardwalk, and of the mountains beyond town, the closeness of the ocean and easy sighting of sea lions, pelicans, and other sea life,... There are lots of restaurants and souvenir shops on the wharf, but the stars of the show are the sea lions. They rest under the wharf and are very entertaining to watch as they bark at each other and try to claim a "better" sleeping spot.

Very nice walk and not too crowded in October. In fact it was Friday evening and totally dead so I'm assuming most things were closed for summer. It had really nice beach with pier and boardwalk "Casino" arcade (no real casino).

We've been to Santa Cruz Wharf multiple times. Today there was high surf so the number of sea lions we saw were amazing. We purchased some salmon at Stagnaro's for dinner. We also purchased our favorite English Toffee candy at Marini's. They have a large variety of candy. There were also many surfers to watch.

Good old fashioned wooden pier, plenty places to eat and to see the sea lions that live underneath, very amusing creatures!

I love santa cruz. This place is so nice and relaxing. I love going to the coast, but this place is so much more low key then most other places. Its a good alternative to san fran, if your looking to just go to the coast and go to a few attractions. I stayed at a hotel right across the... More

Nice but a bit old pier with sufficient (paid) parking facilities. On the pier are mainly restaurant and several shops. From the pier there is a nice view on the surroundings and the boardwalk. Biggest attraction for us were the sea lions on the side of the boardwalk. There is a lower terrace (with stairs leading down to it) where... More

First off, this whole area is gorgeous and I really wish we could have explored it more. The wharf itself is a good place to pick up some souvenirs, but the really memorable part of it was looking down through the cut-outs at the end to observe the elephant seals or sea lions or whatever they were lazing honkily on...
