Went for a movie date with my girlfriend to see 'fault in our stars' the movie itself was just over 2hours. Personally I hadn't been to a movie theater in quite a few years and was skeptical about attending one locally as they normally tend to be quite expensive considering it's basically the cost of a single movie. Went in,... More

Shows excellent selection of films and the atmosphere is great. The price is typical for any movie theater. This is the place to go see films.

So if you want to find the latest foreign film, or critically acclaimed indie film, you will find it at the nick. Being a university town, this is the one heater that you can go to to find that small film you read about in the NY times. The theaters are generally pretty small with limited seating, but you won't... More

When we want to see an independent film, want to be in Santa Cruz for dining or just the vibes, we choose "the Nick." It has several theaters, some small but film choices and the snack bar are not ordinary.

I love the Nick for its variety of indie films, the small theaters and the popcorn. It's my favorite thing to do on a foggy afternoon.

Like the varied venues: always a movie for one's mood - state of mind. worth the drive to "downtown"; staff is friendly; theatre seats are comfortable.

I only go there for a "must-see" film that is not showing any where else in the county and I do not want to drive a distance. I know some consider "the Nick" a local treasure, but I think the seating, screens and sound are something out of the 1950's.

Good energy from the staff and great movies. They serve the best best popcorn and use real butter from the concessions area.

Fantastic resource - a local theatre that brings in the best of both of alternate Indy film and commercial movies worth watching. Popcorn, pastries, good coffee - a super fun evening at Santa Cruz downtown at The Nick!
