Nice theater. Multiple venues at all times. Quiet respectful audience. Nice place! Nice movies. A lot of the films they show will not be offered as mainstream attractions. so for the person who is not interested in gratuitous violence, over-the- sex, this is a great place to go. they have daytime and night time films.

The Nick is as real as its home base of Santa Cruz. Playing movies your hard pressed to find in the big glossy theaters, and oh so glad you saw it here, the snack bar is real too! Everything from the brownies to the tea to the popcorn with real butter is made at the theater or by a local.... More

Outstanding selection of films, great eats (fresh cake at a theater!). Quiet spot just off busy Santa Cruz downtown.

Even though the Nick doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the Cinema 9 does; they make it work so well. Great affordable snacks including handmade caramel corn, and most importantly the best movie audiences (usually). The audience normally is attentive and stays in their seats for the credits, which makes up for the older seats. The Nick generally... More

Every film is a treat beyond the normal stuff at regular theatres. You won't be let down, the owners ensure all movies are great.

The Nick and the Del Mar Theatre in downtown Santa Cruz are both owned by the same owners and show basically the same films. Usually they start at the Del Mar, which is a beautiful renovated Art Deco movie palace, then they go to the Nick to finish their run. My complaint is both theaters charge the same price, so... Thoroughly enjoyed all of the movies I've seen there. Very comfortable, great staff and excellent and eclectic movie choices. I definitely recommend the Nick, the Del Mar or the Aptos Twin theaters for movies. All owned by the same people and offer great movies.

Foreign and independent films are specialty here. Several theaters in a small. locally run venue. Popcorn is excellent, and you can also choose teas, coffee, local pastries.
